FAQs

What are common signs that my main plumbing line is blocked?

Common signs of a main plumbing line blockage include slow draining sinks, recurring clogs in multiple drains, gurgling sounds from your plumbing, water backing up in odd places, and the presence of foul odors coming from your drains. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it's important to address them promptly to avoid further damage.

What causes main line blockages?

Main line blockages are typically caused by a combination of factors, such as the buildup of debris, grease, and foreign objects being flushed down toilets or drains. Tree roots can also infiltrate older pipes, causing severe blockages. Additionally, pipes that have deteriorated over time due to age or improper installation can collapse or crack, leading to obstructions.

How can I prevent main line issues?

Preventing main line issues involves regular maintenance and being mindful of what goes down your drains. Avoid flushing paper towels, sanitary products, and heavy-duty wipes. Use drain strainers to catch hair, food particles, and other debris. Regularly clean your drains with hot water and a mild cleanser, and consider scheduling professional inspections to catch potential problems early.

What should I do if I suspect a main line blockage?

If you suspect a main line blockage, it's essential to act quickly. First, stop using water in your home to avoid exacerbating the problem. Contact a professional plumber who can perform a thorough diagnosis, often using methods like a video inspection to pinpoint the exact cause and location of the blockage. Professional plumbers have the expertise and the right tools to address the issue safely and effectively.

Can I fix a main line blockage myself?

While minor drain clogs might be something you can address yourself with a plunger or drain snake, main line blockages generally require professional intervention. Using DIY methods on a main line can sometimes make the problem worse and cause further damage. A professional plumber has the specialized equipment necessary to clear the blockage and assess any potential damage to the pipes.

What is the cost of repairing a main line blockage in Maryville?

The cost of repairing a main line blockage in Maryville can vary depending on the severity of the blockage and the specific repairs needed. On average, homeowners might expect to pay anywhere from $300 to $1,200 for standard clearing services. More extensive repairs, such as replacing damaged sections of the pipe, can increase the cost significantly. Contacting local plumbing services for a detailed estimate tailored to your situation is always a good idea.

What our customers say

Saturday while digging a trench for a french drain I made the bonehead mistake of hitting our main waterline. Last minute on the weekend I had no water to the house. I called HEP because they had done some electrical work on the house when we were buying it and I knew they did good work. They got me on their list and before too long Roger was out at the house. Roger did a great job and worked quickly. After working in the yard all day long all we wanted was showers and he got the water running so we could do that. We are completely happy with the job and the service. Thanks HEP and thanks Roger. Jason Thompson Knoxville, TN

We had a problem with our drainage in our house. We contacted HEP Knoxville late in the day and were able to get an experienced technician, Jason Palmer, who diagnosed our problem promptly and worked very hard digging under our deck to access our septic tank and release the clogged pipe. Jason was very polite, knowledgeable and very informative throughout the whole process. We are very satisfied with the whole experience.

Can't say enough good things about HEP. We came home from vacation last week to an overflow situation with our septic tank. Called HEP around 4 pm on a Friday and they were here and ready to fix the problem within a few hours. Our tech was super friendly, very knowledgeable and had the septic tank cleaned up and problems resolved quickly. Will definitely be recommending HEP to our friends and neighbors. THANK YOU!!!!

Had a leak in the ceiling. Called HEP and they sent Vladimir. The leaked stopped and he could not find it again. He did everything in his power to find out what happened. He even called for help. This young man was professional, courteous, and neat. Vladimir explained in detail what he was doing and why. He also gave us recommendations on what to look for if the leak returns. Highly recommended.

Amanda, Braden and Jordan were fantastic!!!! Amanda took pictures to let us see what was the problem, gave us a quote and called the next day to check up. Customer service was fast on getting it schedule for the next day. Braden &Jordan did a terrific job on repiping my drains and replacing my water main under the house, my drains are now flowing with no more backing up and water pressure is better now that i don't have a leaking water main. If you need plumbing work of any kind HEP is who you need to call. Thank you again!!!

Josh here AGAIN. This will be my second 5 star review for the workers of HEP. This review is for Josh Herndon. This guy went above and beyond working past 2000 hours on a Sunday and he even went as far as to CRAWL BETWEEN floor joist on my house which has a basement to reroute a dryer vent that I couldn’t feed through due to other utility obstacles. I’m not sure what these workers of HEP get paid or how, but if I were HEP admin, I’d make sure they stay around. I’d also like to give a shout out to the crew HEP sent to replace the severely clogged/damaged drainage main. All the guys they sent out here to diagnose/work were too-notch…price wasn’t easy to swallow, but these guys can’t work for free and had better pricing to others compared in the Knoxville area.

Adam was able to locate and repair my main water line in the mud whilst dodging thorn bushes, wasps, snakes, cougars, drugged up hillbillies, and velociraptors. He was very professional, polite, and accommodating as can be. Give this guy a raise.

Kudos for Amanda for staying and resolving my main line connection to the house leak. It's not easy work and she stayed with it until it was completed. The repair will be robust and happy with their service !
