FAQs

What are the common signs that indicate a main line plumbing issue?

Common signs of a main line plumbing issue include slow draining throughout the house, gurgling sounds from drains, water backups in toilets or sinks, persistent foul sewage odors, and unusual wet patches in your yard. If you experience any of these symptoms, it's advisable to have your main line inspected by a professional plumber in Chattanooga.

How can tree roots affect my main plumbing line?

Tree roots can be a major issue for main plumbing lines as they naturally seek out water sources. They can infiltrate and grow into the pipes through small cracks or joints, causing blockages, pipe damage, and even complete pipe collapse over time. If you have large trees near your plumbing lines, regular inspection and maintenance are important to prevent root intrusion.

What should I do if I suspect a blockage in my main line?

If you suspect a blockage in your main line, it is crucial to act quickly to prevent further damage. Start by avoiding the use of all plumbing fixtures to prevent backups. Then, contact a professional plumbing service in Chattanooga to conduct a thorough inspection and implement the appropriate solution, which may involve hydro-jetting, snaking, or other advanced techniques.

Can I prevent main line plumbing issues from occurring?

Yes, there are several steps you can take to prevent main line plumbing issues. Regularly schedule professional inspections to detect potential problems early, avoid flushing foreign objects down toilets, dispose of grease and fats properly instead of pouring them down the drain, and consider installing a backflow prevention device. Additionally, addressing minor issues promptly can prevent them from becoming major problems.

How much does it typically cost to repair or replace a main line in Chattanooga?

The cost of repairing or replacing a main plumbing line can vary significantly depending on the severity of the issue, the length and depth of the line, and the materials used. Minor repairs may cost a few hundred dollars, while major replacements can range from several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars. It’s best to get a detailed estimate from a local Chattanooga plumber after an inspection.

How long does it take to repair a main plumbing line?

The time required to repair a main plumbing line depends on the extent of the damage and the technique used. Simple repairs can often be completed within a few hours, while more extensive repairs or replacements may take several days to a week. Your plumber will provide a more accurate time frame after assessing the issue during an inspection.

These people are amazing, they came here thinking in would be replacement of the water line from the meter to the house. Well...it was 10xs more complicated with huge rock and tree's in the way, it became a snake maneuver to get from a to z. Let me tell you that when we bought the property the placed the home and used the old line to tie into. They didn't complain about anything, the manager, a new guy and another guy came out to make sure everything was excellent. And let me testify....it was EXCELLENT. Thank you HEP of knoxville we'll be seeing you soon for any further needs

Connor Haydon, with HEP Plumbing, was fantastic! Very friendly and extremely professional. Arrived on time and used his time wisely. We had multiple issues with our plumbing and he was able to give us several options for addressing the situation. He, unfortunately, ran into a couple of venomous snakes under the house and yet still continued with his work! Definitely would hire again for any future needs. Thanks so much!

Had to call HEP for an emergency service for a backed up sewage line. Isaac came out ASAP, walked me through possible scenarios so I knew what he was about to do. He was friendly, courteous, and efficient. It's nice to see HEP has some solid people working for them! Follow-up: Austin and Kane came out to remove the tree roots stuck in our pipeline, and replaced the existing parts. The works looks great, and everything is running like it's supposed to. Again, I'm impressed with the work the HEP team performs.

We had a sudden and significant underground leak and needed a ditch dug and new water line installed from the meter to the house. Colin came out promptly to diagnose the problem. Austin and Zack came out the next day to do the trench and hookup. The evening hookup was complicated by a new leak. This was caused by an old and inappropriate mixture of valve and pipes in the wall, which was not apparent until it was exposed and disturbed. Colin came out the next day to rebuild that section. In summary, I was impressed by the HEP crew I met, as well as their scheduler. All were very capable and friendly. And HEP was able to act very promptly to remedy a serious situation successfully. Particular thanks go to Colin, Austin and Zack.
