FAQs

What are common main line plumbing issues?

Common main line plumbing issues include blockages caused by debris buildup, tree root intrusion, corrosion, and damaged pipes. These issues can lead to slow draining, sewage backups, and foul odors. Regular inspections and maintenance can help identify and resolve these problems before they escalate.

How can I identify a main line blockage?

Signs of a main line blockage include slow drainage in multiple fixtures, gurgling noises when water is used, and unexpected sewer backups. If you notice these issues, it is important to contact a professional plumber to inspect your main line using diagnostic tools such as drainage cameras, which can accurately identify blockages and their causes.

What causes main line corrosion and damage?

Main line corrosion and damage are often caused by aging pipes, chemical reactions with water, and the constant wear and tear from regular use. Additionally, soil conditions and the intrusion of tree roots can exacerbate the degradation of pipes. Regular inspections help detect corrosion early, allowing for timely maintenance or replacement.

Can I perform any maintenance on my main line myself?

While there are preventive steps you can take, such as using safe drain cleaners and avoiding the flushing of inappropriate materials, main line maintenance is best handled by professionals. They have the necessary tools and experience to inspect the pipes, identify issues that aren’t visible from the surface, and perform targeted solutions safely.

How often should I have my main line inspected?

It is recommended to inspect your main line at least once every two years, or immediately if you observe any signs of blockage or damage. Regular inspections can help detect issues early on, prevent extensive damage, and ensure that your plumbing system operates efficiently. Homes with older piping or those located in areas with tree root issues may require more frequent checks.

What steps are involved in repairing a main line issue?

Repairing a main line issue typically starts with a comprehensive inspection to diagnose the problem using cameras and other diagnostic tools. Once the issue is identified, solutions may range from hydro jetting and snaking to remove blockages, to trenchless repair techniques or even complete pipe replacement if the damage is extensive. A professional plumber will provide a detailed estimate and timeline based on the condition and accessibility of your pipes.

What our customers say

The guys at HEP were great, especially Zach. We had a sewer line backed up and they came out and fixed it. Then it rained a few days before the job was done, so they had to come back and do some repair work. Everyone was very professional and courteous.

Zach Hancock and the entire crew were amazing. Very quick response to a water main leak at one of the apartment buildings that I manage. Zach stayed after the repair was completed just to make sure all 13 of our apartment buildings had running water. He really went the extra mile for us and our residents. I highly recommend this company!

Zach and Malik came out to complete our water main replacement. It was a tricky project that had a total of 6 people out here on 3 separate days. All of them were courteous and personable, conscientious in doing their work well and making things look as good as possible after a yard is dug up. Much appreciated.

We used HEP is on the way to take care of a septic tank issue that flooded our downstairs. They sent out Chase Rost to help us with the issue and discovered we had a large rat lodged in one of our pipes. Chase was an awesome guy, super personable and knowledgeable. Would prefer to have Chase help us out in the future if anything else were to happen based on this experience. Thanks Chase!

I had a blockage in the drain line leading from my house to my septic tank. I called HEP & a technician (Chase Rost) was at my home within a couple of hours. Chase was very knowledgeable & had the blockage removed within a few minutes. I have had multiple problems with this line for years because it was initially installed incorrectly. I had had enough patchwork. I asked Chase to give me an estimate for HEP to replace the entire line. He gave me a reasonable price & explained how they would approach the job. HEP is now replacing the entire line. I would recommend HEP for timely service & working with Chase was a pleasure.
