What our customers say

We had an issue with our heat/air system that was installed in Dec. Called the company to report issue. Even though it was after hours. The service tech, James, was here in maybe 1 1/2 hrs. He was very friendly and very helpful. He had the problem fixed in no time. And air was back on. Thank you so much James. And thanks to the person who answered the phone when I called. Sorry I don't remember her name. We have used this company alot the past few years. And we have never been disappointed.

Justin came out to my home on a Sunday to fix my air conditioner unit. The previous people I called to fix a blower motor made a lot of mistakes (Grissom Heat & Air) that caused a huge leak into my ceiling and he took the time to explain the mistakes that were made, and what needed to be done to fix them. I greatly appreciate Justin for taking the time to go over everything so I could understand it. He did a thorough job and I will definitely recommend Justin and HEP to anyone needing help with hvac or plumbing needs. Thank you!

Patrick was awesome. A/C was working fine yesterday morning. I was in and out of the house working all day, but when I came in yesterday afternoon, the A/C was kicking on. I did some troubleshooting myself but to no avail. We just sold our home, and the home inspection for the buyers was the next day! Middle of summer and a home inspection the next day. Could there be a worse time for the A/C to go out? I called HEP and asked them to come out the same day. Any fee they charged me was well worth it if we could at least diagnosis the problem. They did more than just diagnose the issue, however, and spent the next three hours fixing the problem. Three hours in the middle of summer, on a holiday (July 4), and at night (9-11 PM). Patrick saved my butt. Before he left he had everything working just the way it was supposed to work. Thank you, Patrick and HEP!

The Importance of Reliable Heat Repair in Decherd’s Distinct Climate

Winters in Decherd, Tennessee may be shorter than in northern regions, yet the fluctuating temperatures place unique demands on residential and commercial heating systems. Nights can drop into freezing territory, and sudden cold snaps are common during late fall through early spring. When a furnace, heat pump, or packaged HVAC system struggles, comfort levels plummet almost instantly. Beyond comfort, reliable heat directly impacts health, productivity, and property integrity. Pipes can freeze, indoor air can stagnate, and excessive humidity may foster mold growth—all avoidable with an efficient, well-maintained heating system.

HEP offers specialized heat repair services tailored specifically to Decherd’s climate challenges, local building layouts, and energy-efficiency goals. By combining technical expertise with an in-depth understanding of regional weather patterns, HEP delivers solutions that keep homes and businesses warm when it matters most.

Unique Heating Challenges in Decherd

Temperature Swings

Decherd is known for its broad temperature swings, where a mild afternoon can be followed by a chilly night. These rapid changes force heating equipment to cycle on and off frequently, increasing wear on critical components such as ignition systems, blower motors, and heat exchangers.

High Humidity Levels

Though humidity is often associated with summer, winter moisture in the Tennessee Valley remains high. When cold humid air encounters warm interior spaces, condensation can form inside ductwork, accelerating rust and microbial growth. Efficient heat repair work not only restores warmth but also addresses humidity-driven deterioration.

Mixed Fuel Sources

Many Decherd properties rely on a mix of natural gas, propane, or electric heat pumps. Each system demands specialized diagnostic tools and repair protocols. HEP technicians stay proficient in all fuel types, ensuring accurate fixes regardless of the energy source.

Why Timely Heat Repair Matters

Health and Safety Considerations

  • Prolonged exposure to cold indoor conditions increases the risk of hypothermia, especially for young children and older adults.
  • Malfunctioning gas furnaces may leak carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that poses severe health hazards.
  • Poorly performing systems often circulate dust, allergens, and mold spores. Effective heat repair helps maintain a healthier breathing environment.

Energy Efficiency and Utility Costs

A unit that short-cycles, runs continuously, or fails to reach set temperatures wastes energy. Addressing wear or malfunction promptly can:

  • Reduce electricity or gas consumption
  • Prevent spikes in monthly utility bills
  • Extend the service life of major HVAC equipment

Structural Protection

  • Consistent indoor temperatures protect plumbing from freezing.
  • Adequate heat prevents excessive moisture that can warp wood, peel paint, or compromise insulation.

HEP’s Comprehensive Heat Repair Process

Thorough Diagnostic Assessment

HEP’s certified technicians begin with an end-to-end evaluation of the heating system. Using advanced diagnostic devices—thermal imagers, combustion analyzers, and airflow meters—they inspect:

  • Thermostat functionality and calibration
  • Electrical connections and voltage drops
  • Gas pressure (for furnaces and boilers)
  • Refrigerant levels (for heat pumps)
  • Heat exchanger integrity
  • Ductwork leaks and airflow restrictions

Precision Repairs and Component Replacement

After pinpointing the root cause, HEP executes targeted repairs. Common interventions include:

  • Replacing worn ignitors, pilot assemblies, or flame sensors
  • Cleaning or changing clogged filters to restore airflow
  • Repairing blower motors and belts that impede circulation
  • Sealing duct leaks to boost system efficiency
  • Flushing drain lines and condensate pans to prevent water damage
  • Charging or reclaiming refrigerant in heat pump systems

System Optimization and Testing

Following repair, the team calibrates the thermostat, balances airflow, and verifies combustion efficiency. A final performance test confirms:

  • Stable temperature rise across the heat exchanger
  • Correct cycling patterns
  • Safe carbon monoxide levels
  • Optimal noise and vibration thresholds

Documentation and Owner Education

Clear, written reports outline issues found, steps taken, and recommended best practices. Clients gain insights into:

  • Filter change intervals
  • Programmable thermostat settings
  • Seasonal maintenance tips specifically relevant to Decherd’s climate

Signs Your Heater Requires Professional Attention

Timely recognition of early warning signs minimizes repair costs and prevents emergency breakdowns. Watch for:

  • Uneven room temperatures or cold spots
  • Unusual smells—burnt dust, metallic odors, or gas
  • Loud banging, squealing, or rattling noises from the unit
  • Frequent on-off cycling or continuous operation
  • Visible water near the air handler or furnace
  • A sudden increase in utility bills without a change in usage
  • Pilot light that flickers yellow instead of blue on gas furnaces

Technologies and Systems HEP Services

Gas Furnaces

Offering rapid, powerful heat, gas furnaces are common throughout Decherd. HEP repairs:

  • High-efficiency condensing furnace models
  • Standard two-stage units
  • Modulating furnaces with variable-speed blowers

Electric Heat Pumps

Because they provide both heating and cooling, heat pumps work nearly year-round. HEP addresses:

  • Compressor failures
  • Reversing valve malfunctions
  • Defrost cycle issues

Dual-Fuel Hybrid Systems

These systems switch between a heat pump and a gas furnace based on temperature thresholds. HEP ensures seamless switchover logic and balances thermostat communication.

Packaged Rooftop Units

Some commercial buildings in Decherd rely on rooftop systems. HEP technicians safely access and service these units, resolving airflow constraints, motor wear, and refrigerant problems.

Ductless Mini-Split Systems

Ideal for room additions, workshops, or older homes without ductwork, ductless systems require specialized knowledge. HEP handles fan coil inspections, condensate drainage, and inverter board replacements.

Seasonal Maintenance Strategies for Decherd Homes

Pre-Winter Tune-Ups

  • Clean burners and ignition systems
  • Inspect flue pipes and vent terminations for blockages
  • Lubricate moving parts to reduce friction during prolonged winter operation

Mid-Season Checkpoints

  • Monitor filter condition more frequently during peak usage
  • Ensure thermostat batteries are fresh and settings remain optimized
  • Verify adequate clearance around outdoor heat pump units to prevent ice buildup

Post-Season Inspections

  • Document any unusual occurrences to discuss with HEP for future prevention
  • Schedule duct cleaning if dust accumulation was higher than normal
  • Evaluate insulation and weather-stripping effectiveness for upgrades

Consistent maintenance minimizes emergency repairs and allows technicians to detect small issues—like worn belts or minor refrigerant leaks—before they escalate.
