Adam came today to install some new lighting in our kitchen. The previous owners decided to DIY a hideous LED light fixture that had been torturing us with strobe lighting for over a year. We got some new track lights at Lowe’s and called HEP they called us the next day and the day after Adam came out and installed the new fixtures in about two hours. He did a great job and even fixed the orientation of the light switches which are also DIY and backwards. Definitely will use HEP for all our electric needs in the future!

Technical Approach HEP Uses

Assessment and Planning

The upgrade journey starts with a deep dive into existing conditions. HEP documents every fixture location, reviews electrical schematics, and gathers stakeholder input on lighting pain points and preferences. Sophisticated software modeling projects energy savings and return on investment, ensuring decision makers have clear financial data.

Fixture Selection and Sourcing

HEP maintains relationships with leading lighting manufacturers, giving Rutledge clients access to:

  • Luminaires with advanced thermal management for extended LED longevity
  • High color rendition indices (CRI 90+) for tasks demanding visual accuracy
  • Lenses and diffusers tuned for glare control and even light distribution
  • Durable housings rated for damp or hazardous environments

Installation Protocols

Certified electricians adhere to structured installation sequences that minimize disruption:

  • Pre-task safety briefings and lockout-tagout procedures
  • Staggered fixture replacement to maintain adequate light levels during business hours
  • Cable management techniques that protect low-voltage control wiring from interference
  • Field verification of voltage, current, and power factor after energizing new loads

Post-Installation Optimization

Once fixtures are operational, fine-tuning ensures optimal performance:

  • Commissioning of control systems, including sensor calibration and scheduling
  • Photometric validation to confirm target lux levels have been achieved
  • Detailed documentation, including as-built drawings and maintenance guidelines

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

LED Conversion Advantages

The upgrade from legacy fluorescent, high-pressure sodium, or metal halide to LEDs yields multipronged benefits:

  • Energy reductions of 50–80 percent, supported by lower wattage and superior optical efficacy
  • Virtually instantaneous full brightness, eliminating warm-up delays common with older technologies
  • Minimal ultraviolet and infrared output, preserving materials and reducing AC loads
  • Extended rated life often exceeding 50,000 hours, slashing lamp replacement frequency

Controls and Automation

Lighting controls add another layer of savings that compound over time:

  • Occupancy detection in conference rooms, restrooms, and storage spaces
  • Programmable scenes that adapt to time-of-day usage patterns
  • Demand response readiness, allowing facilities to reduce lighting load during utility peak events
  • Mobile app interfaces that empower facility managers with granular adjustment capabilities

Rebates and Incentive Guidance

Rutledge property owners can offset project costs through available energy programs. HEP assembles all necessary documentation, from fixture cut sheets to pre- and post-installation utility data, expediting approvals and ensuring maximum incentive capture.

Compliance and Safety Standards

Local Rutledge Electrical Codes Alignment

Rutledge enforces specific municipal codes governing conductors, grounding, and fixture ratings. HEP’s design team cross-references every specification against current ordinances, ensuring seamless inspections and avoiding costly rework.

OSHA and NEC Adherence

HEP crews operate under stringent occupational safety protocols:

  • Personal protective equipment for elevated work on lifts and scaffolds
  • Arc-flash risk assessments and appropriate labeling on electrical panels
  • Conformance with NEC Article 410 for luminaires, lampholders, and retrofit kits
