Project Highlight – Typical Lighting Upgrade Scenario

A mid-sized manufacturing plant on Mulberry’s industrial east side faced rising energy bills and poor visibility. Metal-halide high-bays delivered inconsistent light, and maintenance crews struggled with frequent re-lamp requirements. HEP executed a full lighting upgrade with the following workflow:

  1. A 48-hour logged audit identified that fixtures operated 18 hours daily, six days per week, consuming 185,000 kWh annually.
  2. Photometric models recommended 150 W LED high-bays (replacing 400 W metal-halide) combined with aisle-mounted PIR sensors.
  3. Installation occurred during scheduled line shutdowns, leveraging articulated lifts to maintain plant safety protocols.
  4. Commissioning calibrated sensors to a 15-minute timeout and verified 300 lux average across the production floor.
  5. Post-upgrade monitoring reported annual energy use dropping to 78,000 kWh, with a correlating reduction in HVAC load due to diminished heat from lamps.

Beyond the financial savings, machine operators cited clearer sight lines and improved morale, while quality-control metrics showed a measurable decrease in defects attributed to lighting glare.
