Adam came today to install some new lighting in our kitchen. The previous owners decided to DIY a hideous LED light fixture that had been torturing us with strobe lighting for over a year. We got some new track lights at Lowe’s and called HEP they called us the next day and the day after Adam came out and installed the new fixtures in about two hours. He did a great job and even fixed the orientation of the light switches which are also DIY and backwards. Definitely will use HEP for all our electric needs in the future!

Common Electrical Lighting Challenges in Robbins Properties

Every property carries its own set of electrical quirks, yet certain issues recur frequently in Robbins. HEP’s technicians encounter these challenges daily and have honed strategies to resolve them quickly and securely.

Inefficient Fixtures and Bulbs

Many homes and commercial buildings still rely on:

  • Incandescent or halogen lamps that convert more energy to heat than to visible light.
  • Fluorescent tubes with flicker or mercury content issues.
  • Older HID (high-intensity discharge) lighting in parking lots, which often runs at high wattage and deteriorates rapidly.

Aging Electrical Infrastructure

The village features a mix of newer developments and mid-century structures. In older buildings, common findings include:

  • Insufficient circuit capacity for modern lighting loads.
  • Degraded insulation on wiring that increases fire risk.
  • Outdated breaker panels that lack support for today’s smart controls.

Compliance Gaps in Codes and Standards

Changes to statutes can render an otherwise functional lighting layout non-compliant. Frequent gaps involve:

  • Missing or incorrectly placed emergency egress lighting.
  • Inadequate illumination levels in commercial workspaces, violating OSHA recommendations.
  • Unlabelled or incorrectly wired dimmers affecting power factor and causing premature fixture failure.

The HEP Lighting Upgrade Process
