What our customers say

The guys from HEP did a great job installing my Carrier HVAC unit. They took their time and made sure everything was done right. They asked me several times if I thought everything looked good throughout the install. There will be a inspection technician that will come out to do a follow-up to make sure the job was done properly, check the unit, and make sure the thermostat is working correctly. Everyone that I talked to from HEP was friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend using this company. Thank you for your service! Jody Technician came out the next day and checked the unit and all the work performed. All employees seem to care about the customers.

My HVAC system went down on a late Saturday night and i called HEP right away. They were calm and friendly on the phone, which allowed for us to get a tech out to my home. Justin came to my house at 7pm and did not leave until the problem was solved in every aspect of my issue at 11:30pm. I currently have a pregnant wife and he understood we needed to get air moving again. We worked late into the night to make sure we could have cool flowing air for the night. Once the job was completed for the day, he came back a second day to install new wiring within the home for the thermostat to the HVAC. He found and fixed previous issues from the prior homeowner and left my home better than how he found it. I am extremely appreciative of Justin and if you call HEP around the Knoxville area, I will request him in a heartbeat if I ever have any more issues and I think you should to. Thank you, Justin for your help and expertise.

Understanding the Importance of Thermostat Upgrades in Jonesborough

Jonesborough’s rolling hills, historic architecture, and four-season climate create a unique set of comfort challenges for residents. Daytime summer highs commonly cross the 80 °F threshold, while crisp winter nights can slide well below freezing. In a region where temperature swings are an everyday reality, a precise thermostat is more than a convenience—it is the control center for an efficient, dependable heating and cooling system. Upgrading the thermostat often unlocks energy savings, enhances comfort, and extends the life of HVAC equipment.

Climate Characteristics That Influence Thermostat Performance

  • Pronounced seasonal shifts that demand both heating and cooling.
  • Humidity fluctuations in late spring and early autumn.
  • Rapid temperature drops during Appalachian cold fronts.
  • Longer cooling seasons compared with northern regions.

The Role of a Modern Thermostat in Local Homes

A high-efficiency furnace or air conditioner will never reach its potential if it is paired with a dated, inaccurate, or poorly programmed wall control. Modern thermostats manage compressor staging, variable-speed fan settings, and humidity control with levels of precision that older mercury or basic digital models simply cannot match. By ensuring that every degree of conditioned air is deliberately scheduled and monitored, a new thermostat becomes the bridge between comfort and savings.

Energy Efficiency Beyond Set-and-Forget Temperature Control

Current generation thermostats measure indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, relative humidity, occupancy, and even local utility demand-response signals. Machine-learning algorithms then synthesize that data into tailored run cycles, shaving unnecessary minutes off each HVAC call and trimming kilowatt-hours from monthly utility statements.

HEP’s Comprehensive Thermostat Upgrade Service

HEP delivers a start-to-finish solution that combines product expertise, HVAC experience, and a methodology honed specifically for homes around Jonesborough.

Initial Assessment and System Audit

Before any screwdriver touches the wall plate, HEP evaluates:

  • Existing heating and cooling equipment type (gas furnace, heat pump, dual-fuel, mini-split, etc.)
  • Voltage and low-voltage wiring configuration
  • Condition of thermostat cable and availability of a “C-wire” for constant power
  • Homeowner lifestyle, preferred comfort ranges, and tech familiarity

Selection of Compatible Devices

After the audit, HEP technicians recommend one or more thermostat models that align with the HVAC equipment’s capabilities and the homeowner’s preferences. Compatibility is confirmed for:

  • Multi-stage heating or cooling
  • Variable-speed blower communication protocols
  • Humidifier or dehumidifier integration
  • Smart-home ecosystems (Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter)

Professional Installation

HEP’s trained specialists remove the old thermostat, label and test every conductor, and mount a level, flush baseplate. Wiring terminals are torqued to manufacturer specifications to prevent intermittent faults that are common with DIY installs.

Configuration and Testing

  • Firmware updates are performed on-site to ensure security and peak performance.
  • Equipment settings such as heat pump balance points, cycle rates, and compressor lockout thresholds are dialed in.
  • End-to-end system tests confirm correct staging, blower ramp-up profiles, and accessory activation.

Post-Installation Support

HEP leaves homeowners with a clear understanding of scheduling, remote-access apps, and energy-report dashboards. Support continues over the life of the thermostat, including guidance on software updates and interface changes.

Every reduced kilowatt-hour lowers demand on regional power plants, leading to lower greenhouse gas emissions and a lighter environmental footprint for the entire community.

Seamless Integration with Existing HVAC Equipment

HEP verifies multi-stage compatibility, meaning the new thermostat utilizes every performance tier of modern furnaces and heat pumps rather than defaulting to a single-stage mode.

Anytime, Anywhere Control

Away for the weekend? A few taps on a smartphone app can drop the setpoint, prevent wasted energy, and restore comfort before you pull into the driveway.

The Thermostat Upgrade Process Explained

Pre-Upgrade Inspection

Technicians examine breaker panels, transformer capacity, and low-voltage junctions to ensure stable power delivery to the new control.

Compatibility Check

Older two-wire heating-only systems require an add-a-wire kit or new cabling. HEP plans for these scenarios, preventing last-minute surprises.

Wiring and Power Considerations

  • Verification of 24-volt common wire availability
  • Assessment of wire gauge and insulation integrity
  • Clean routing to avoid radio-frequency interference with Wi-Fi thermostats
