My HVAC system went down on a late Saturday night and i called HEP right away. They were calm and friendly on the phone, which allowed for us to get a tech out to my home. Justin came to my house at 7pm and did not leave until the problem was solved in every aspect of my issue at 11:30pm. I currently have a pregnant wife and he understood we needed to get air moving again. We worked late into the night to make sure we could have cool flowing air for the night. Once the job was completed for the day, he came back a second day to install new wiring within the home for the thermostat to the HVAC. He found and fixed previous issues from the prior homeowner and left my home better than how he found it. I am extremely appreciative of Justin and if you call HEP around the Knoxville area, I will request him in a heartbeat if I ever have any more issues and I think you should to. Thank you, Justin for your help and expertise.

Benefits for Heating Systems in Heiskell’s Winters

While Tennessee winters are moderate compared to northern climates, temperatures can still dip well below freezing. In older homes, oversized equipment and outdated thermostatic controls often cause the furnace to cycle frequently, wasting energy and shortening equipment life.

Heating Advantages

  • Precise Setback Schedules: Automatically drop temperatures during sleeping hours without sacrificing comfort
  • Adaptive Recovery: Predicts the right time to begin heating so the home reaches the ideal temperature exactly when needed
  • Fuel Utilization Efficiency: Reduces furnace run times, lowering gas or electric consumption
  • Enhanced Comfort: Minimizes temperature fluctuations by maintaining tighter tolerances

During the coldest snaps, HEP-installed thermostats preserve consistent warmth while defraying the costs of extended furnace operation.

Benefits for Air Conditioning During Tennessee Summers

Summers in Heiskell are known for high humidity and soaring highs. Running an air conditioner around the clock can put a strain on budgets and mechanical components—unless the thermostat is intelligent enough to optimize every cycle.

Cooling Advantages

  • Humidity Control: Coordinates with variable-speed blowers or two-stage compressors to extract more moisture from indoor air
  • Peak Demand Management: Schedules cooling to avoid local utility peak rates when possible
  • Circulation Boost: Engages the blower periodically to mix air, balancing room temperatures without dropping the setpoint
  • Smart Alerts: Flags clogged air filters or coil icing before serious problems arise

HEP equips households with thermostats that adjust to heat waves in real time, maintaining comfort while preventing energy spikes.

Energy Efficiency and Cost Savings

One of the main motives for upgrading a thermostat is the potential for measurable energy reduction. According to multiple industry studies, smart thermostats can cut HVAC-related costs by up to 15% annually, though actual savings depend on climate, home size, and user behavior.

How Energy Savings are Achieved

  • Learning schedules that match occupancy patterns to avoid unnecessary conditioning
  • Precision sensors that detect temperature within a fraction of a degree, eliminating wasteful overshooting
  • Real-time data that empowers homeowners to make informed decisions on setpoints
  • Remote adjustments, making it easy to correct forgotten settings while away

Over the lifespan of an HVAC system, these savings often recoup the initial cost of the thermostat, helping families in Heiskell meet sustainability goals without sacrificing comfort.

Compatibility with HVAC Systems and Zoning

HEP ensures that each thermostat upgrade is fully compatible with the home’s existing infrastructure, including single-stage furnaces, multi-stage heat pumps, dual-fuel setups, and zoned ductwork.

Compatibility Considerations

  • Voltage Requirements: 24-volt low-voltage versus line “high” voltage systems
  • Auxiliary Heat: Ensuring proper balance between heat pump and electric strip heaters
  • Zoning Dampers: Configuring thermostats to communicate with zone control panels
  • Equipment Staging: Matching compressor or furnace stages to thermostat outputs

By confirming these details beforehand, HEP eliminates the risk of short cycling, wiring errors, or limited functionality.

The Installation Experience with HEP

A thermostat might be a small component on the wall, but its wiring and settings influence the entire HVAC assembly. HEP’s technicians follow rigorous procedures to protect both equipment and household property.
