Adam came today to install some new lighting in our kitchen. The previous owners decided to DIY a hideous LED light fixture that had been torturing us with strobe lighting for over a year. We got some new track lights at Lowe’s and called HEP they called us the next day and the day after Adam came out and installed the new fixtures in about two hours. He did a great job and even fixed the orientation of the light switches which are also DIY and backwards. Definitely will use HEP for all our electric needs in the future!

I met Rueben from HEP today concerning a tune-up for my water heater. Because of the age of my water heater, 25 years, and the fact it was working perfectly, I decided due to the valve being plastic and a fear of breaking it not to do the tune-up. Rueben agreed and was kind enough give me a quote on replacing the water heater and showed me a product to keep my drain lines clear. Very nice person and very thorough in his explanation of all that HEP could offer us. Great company and great employees. I also had Zac and Adam replace two bathroom switches, as well as, install a LED light fixture in the shower. They also replaced three outside lights that we had been needing replaced for years. Great young men and are valuable asset to your company. I called HEP at 11:00 a.m., and spoke to a very nice young lady concerning a strong odor of methane gas in our laundry room and upstairs bathroom. She said a plumber would be at my house between 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. today. I received a call at 1:15 p.m. saying the plumbers were on their way. They were here by 1:40 p.m. I met two young who both were named Shaun. They were from our first handshake to our goodbye cordial, congenial, and very knowledgeable. Extremely professional young men. The moment they walked into the bathroom with the strong methane odor they knew what was wrong by asking one question. How often do you run that shower? When I told them rarely, they told me exactly what was wrong. The water in the trap for the shower had evaporated from lack of use and that was allowing the sewer gas that is normally blocked by the water in the trap to leak out of the shower drain. After a few flushes of the toilet and some running of water in the shower, my problem was solved. They took the time to clean out the shower drain and they were finished. I bought the Service Plan because of their honesty and their wonderful demeanor. Shaun and Shaun are credits to your company in many ways. I will use your company again in the future because of this visit. Thank you.

Sequatchie’s Unique Lighting Challenges

Varying Building Ages

Across Sequatchie County, many structures built before the 1990s still operate with fluorescent, metal-halide, or incandescent lighting. These legacy fixtures consume large amounts of power and often fail to meet today’s light-level standards. HEP evaluates each facility’s age and wiring infrastructure to customize a safe and efficient upgrade path.

Humidity and Temperature Swings

Tennessee’s humid subtropical climate subjects fixtures and drivers to continuous thermal cycling. Condensation and heat buildup accelerate degradation in older ballasts and sockets. HEP’s specification process favors sealed, IP-rated luminaires and thermally managed LED drivers that thrive in Sequatchie’s conditions.

Expanding Commercial Footprint

Sequatchie’s growth includes new distribution centers, farm-to-table processing sites, and retail expansions. Each facility type demands tailored foot-candle values, glare control, and emergency egress solutions. HEP’s design team incorporates photometric modeling to ensure every upgrade delivers code-compliant light levels for both production efficiency and occupant comfort.

HEP’s Structured Upgrade Methodology

A successful lighting overhaul follows a disciplined roadmap. HEP has refined a workflow that guarantees seamless integration, minimal downtime, and reliable performance:

1. Comprehensive Site Audit

HEP’s auditors visit the property to document current fixture types, mounting heights, and electrical load. Using lux meters, they record existing light levels at task planes and identify glare hotspots. The audit encompasses:

  • Electrical panel capacity review
  • Thermal imaging to spot stressed wiring or overloaded circuits
  • Occupancy pattern mapping to document actual usage hours

2. Photometric Analysis and Design

Utilizing the data collected, HEP engineers model proposed LED fixtures in industry-standard lighting calculation software. The objective is to balance uniformity, target illuminance, and energy reduction. Design considerations include:

  • Ceiling height and room reflectance values
  • Required Color Rendering Index (CRI) for accurate color perception
  • Appropriate Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) ranging from warm 2700 K ambiances to crisp 5000 K work environments

3. Fixture Selection and Procurement

HEP maintains partnerships with reputable manufacturers, ensuring access to robust luminaires that meet DLC and ENERGY STAR certifications. Selection factors:

  • Lumen output per watt to maximize efficiency
  • Housing materials such as aluminum for optimal heat dissipation
  • Compatibility with existing mounting hardware to reduce installation labor

4. Professional Installation

Certified electricians manage the change-out process, adhering to NEC requirements and local inspection protocols. Sequatchie’s varied ceiling types—from open trusses in barns to drop ceilings in offices—receive mounting solutions engineered for safety and longevity.

5. Commissioning and Verification

Post-installation, HEP performs light-level testing and system calibration. Smart controls undergo programming to establish occupancy timing, daylight-harvesting thresholds, and dimming profiles that align with client preferences.

Residential Lighting Upgrades

Interior Enhancements

Homeowners across Sequatchie often begin with interior spaces that benefit immediately from LED upgrades:

  • Kitchens: Under-cabinet LEDs improve task visibility while recessed downlights add ambient warmth.
  • Living Areas: Dimmable LED retrofits replace energy-hungry incandescent bulbs, enabling mood lighting with minimal power draw.
  • Bathrooms: High-CRI vanity fixtures deliver flattering illumination conducive to grooming tasks.

Exterior and Landscape Lighting

The picturesque landscapes surrounding Sequatchie homes deserve equally impressive illumination:

  • Pathway bollards equipped with solar-ready LEDs guide nightly strolls while preventing trip hazards.
  • Motion-activated porch fixtures deter unwanted wildlife and enhance security.
  • Architectural uplighting accentuates stone facades and mature trees without generating glare.

Smart Home Integration

Residents increasingly choose lighting ecosystems that communicate with voice assistants and mobile apps. HEP supplies:

  • Wi-Fi-enabled dimmers
  • Occupancy sensors for hallways and garages
  • Centralized hubs synchronizing schedules based on local sunrise and sunset data

Commercial and Industrial Lighting Upgrades

Warehouses and Distribution Centers

High-bay LED fixtures, often replacing outdated metal-halide lamps, slash energy usage and virtually eliminate re-lamp downtime. HEP includes integrated sensors that dim or fully extinguish fixtures when aisles are unoccupied, yielding additional savings.

Offices and Retail Spaces

For employee productivity and shopper satisfaction, view-comfort factors are paramount. HEP’s parabolic troffers and edge-lit flat panels distribute light evenly at desks and merchandise displays, minimizing eye strain.

Agricultural Facilities

Sequatchie’s agricultural heritage calls for lighting solutions capable of withstanding dust, moisture, and wide temperature ranges. HEP deploys IP-65 vapor-tight LEDs that maintain optimal lumen output in barns, poultry houses, and feed storage areas.
