HEP Company’s Proven Upgrade Process

Every lighting upgrade executed by HEP is guided by a multi-phase methodology grounded in best practices and refined by extensive field experience in Jellico.

Phase 1: Needs Assessment

An electrician and a lighting designer visit the facility to document existing conditions, such as fixture types, ceiling heights, power distribution panels, and ambient light levels. They also discuss qualitative goals—like creating a warmer retail ambiance or boosting visibility on a production line.

Phase 2: Data Analysis & Solution Design

Collected data feeds into a design engine that calculates payback periods, illuminance values, and return on investment. Designers balance aesthetics with practicality, specifying fixture models, color temperatures, and control schemes tailored to each environment.

Phase 3: Proposal & Scope Alignment

The client reviews a comprehensive proposal outlining deliverables, timelines, energy projections, and projected maintenance reductions. Any adjustments required for stakeholder alignment are incorporated before work begins.

Phase 4: Implementation & Installation

Certified technicians remove legacy fixtures, handle safe disposal of mercury-containing lamps, and perform rewiring where necessary. Controls are addressed concurrently, ensuring seamless integration between sensors, dimmers, and network gateways.

Phase 5: Commissioning & Validation

On completion, HEP conducts a commissioning process that includes light level testing, control calibration, and fixture aiming. Commissioning reports document measured performance against design specs, providing a clear baseline for ongoing maintenance.

Phase 6: Post-Project Support

Unlike ad-hoc contractors, HEP maintains a partnership model. Support packages include training sessions for facility personnel, periodic system health checks, and firmware updates for networked components.

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability in Jellico

Reducing electricity consumption reverberates beyond balance sheets—it also contributes to a healthier environment for Jellico residents and the surrounding Appalachian region.

Lower kWh Consumption, Lower Carbon Emissions

In typical retrofits, LED fixtures cut wattage by 50-70 percent. When controls are added, aggregate energy savings often exceed 80 percent. These reductions translate directly into shrinking carbon footprints, supporting local sustainability initiatives.

Tennessee’s energy policy encourages high-efficiency upgrades in commercial and public buildings. By partnering with HEP, Jellico organizations can align their facilities with statewide objectives, strengthening eligibility for utility incentives and recognition programs.

Practical Applications of Lighting Upgrades in Jellico Facilities

Each facility type presents distinct challenges—from glare in an operating suite to lumen maintenance in a distribution center. HEP’s versatile portfolio ensures a tailored approach for every application.

Commercial Offices and Retail Spaces

Modern offices demand balanced lighting that minimizes eye strain while elevating aesthetics. Retail environments, meanwhile, rely on accent lighting to draw customer attention to displays.

  • Linear recessed fixtures create uniform ambient light for workstations.
  • Track heads with adjustable beams highlight merchandise without cast shadows.
  • Tunable-white systems shift color temperature throughout the day to promote circadian wellness.

Industrial Warehouses and Manufacturing Plants

High-bay LED luminaires deliver powerful illumination with minimal maintenance. Integrated motion sensors dim lights in idle aisles, maximizing efficiency without compromising safety.

Municipal Infrastructure

Parking lots, sports fields, and streets benefit from LED pole lights equipped with adaptive controls that react to pedestrian presence and ambient conditions. Reduced maintenance demands free up city budgets for other improvements.

Educational Campuses

Classrooms, libraries, and dormitories each require distinct lighting strategies. Teachers appreciate glare-free whiteboards, while students benefit from daylight-mimicking luminaires that support concentration and reduce fatigue.

Healthcare Facilities

Hospitals and clinics rely on precise color rendering for accurate diagnoses. High CRI (Color Rendering Index) LEDs deliver true-to-life illumination in examination rooms, operating theaters, and radiology suites.

Safety, Compliance, and Lighting Standards

Lighting deficiencies can lead to accidents, regulatory violations, or insurance complications. HEP prevents such pitfalls through diligent adherence to established standards.

Meeting Electrical Codes and Standards

Installations follow the National Electrical Code (NEC), Illumination Engineering Society (IES) recommendations, and application-specific guidelines such as OSHA lighting requirements for industrial settings.

Reducing Operational Hazards

Improved light distribution eliminates dark corners where slips, trips, or collisions might occur. Thermal management in LED fixtures minimizes surface temperatures, reducing fire risk in facilities storing flammable materials.

Lighting and Employee Wellness

The relationship between lighting quality and human health has become a focal point in workplace design. By integrating wellness principles, HEP ensures that Jellico facilities support both productivity and employee satisfaction.

Circadian Rhythm Alignment

Humans rely on natural light cues to regulate sleep–wake cycles. When employees spend long hours indoors under static fluorescent lighting, their circadian rhythms can drift, leading to fatigue and reduced alertness. Tunable LED systems mimic the spectral changes of daylight, delivering cooler hues in the morning and warmer tones in the evening. This dynamic shift keeps biological clocks on track, fostering higher energy levels and better overall mood.

Glare Reduction and Visual Comfort

Excessive luminance contrast forces the eye to continually adapt, causing headaches and eye strain. HEP’s photometric simulations factor in reflectance values of furniture, flooring, and wall finishes, ensuring that luminaires provide uniform illumination without hotspots. Diffusers, louvers, and micro-prismatic lenses further soften light, creating visually comfortable spaces conducive to focused work.

Psychological Benefits of Quality Light

Studies link well-lit environments to decreased absenteeism and improved morale. By combining vertical illuminance on walls with balanced horizontal lighting, HEP cultivates spaces that feel spacious and inviting. Plants, artwork, and architectural textures are revealed in vibrant detail, reinforcing a positive corporate culture.
