I honestly never thought of calling HEP. The commercials...just couldn't get past them. Let me say though, I am now a life-long fan. Ended up purchasing two units from HEP (pictured) on a Sunday afternoon, and on Monday, Eddie Hawking and Gene Cross showed up to install them. I've never had such nice (my children loved them), professional, and knowledgeable people work on anything at my house before. Eddie and Gene were on time, not just arriving at the house, but they called when they said they would call (on the way, updates, etc.). These guys are rockstars, and busted their tails to get the job done on time - around my family's schedule. Ask for them by name if you order from HEP. You won't regret it.

We had a new a.c. unit installed. The technicians, Eddie Hawkins and Gene Cross were absolutely amazing. They installed the unit, cleaned all the mess up and made sure everything was properly working as suppose too before they left. Even though we just purchased our house almost a year ago and was not expecting to do any big upgrades right away, unfortantely we had no choice, if we wanted too stay cool this summer. I'm so so so so thankful that we had one of the best ac salesman, Bob come and explain everything too us. He came out, by himself the week before, then on Monday came back too our home with techs too go all thru our home too make sure we made the right decision on which unit we should purchase for the square footage. This company, in my personal opinion is truly the best!!!! You are not just $$$$ too them, they treat you like family and will help you anyway they can. We will definitely be using them in the near future for other upgrades in our home.... Thank you so sooo much!!!!

HEP to the rescue!! We had a very old unit (27 year) had been babying it for a very long time. Well it finally crashed. We checked around for prices and time for installation. When we called HEP it was because of the 0% financing. Rick Louders was the man you came out and gave us the estimate. A very nice man. He actually met up with my husband in a parking lot to finalize the deal. They set up for 2 days later for the installation and were even able to call an get it bumped up a day. That was yesterday...a miserable hot day. The 2 men that came to the house to do the job were George Williams and Bo (sorry didnt catch his last name). They were very friendly and kind. I really felt sorry for them working up in that hot miserable attic. But work they did. Wouldnt even take a bottle a cold water I offered them said they had some. I want to say THANK-YOU SO MUCH! YOU BOTH WORKED SO HARD! MUCH APPRECIATED!

  • Static pressure within ductwork

This data-driven approach ensures that recommendations are grounded in measurable performance metrics.

Transparent Recommendation and Action

After diagnostics, homeowners receive an explanation of findings alongside prioritized solutions. Clear communication empowers informed decisions, whether opting for immediate repair, scheduling maintenance, or considering system replacement.

Post-Service Performance Verification

The final step involves running the air conditioner through multiple cycles, confirming:

  • Target temperature attainment
  • Stable refrigerant pressures
  • Balanced airflow across all supply vents

Documented results demonstrate restored efficiency and provide a benchmark for future inspections.

Specialized Solutions for Seymour's Climate

Southern Indiana combines humid summers with cool, damp winters. HEP tailors HVAC strategies to manage both extremes effectively.

Humidity Control Strategies

High humidity can make indoor temperatures feel warmer than they are, forcing air conditioners to work harder. HEP combats this with:

  • Variable-speed blowers that run longer at lower speeds, removing more moisture
  • Whole-home dehumidifiers integrated into existing ductwork
  • Accurate humidity monitoring devices linked to smart thermostats

Seasonal Tune-Ups for Hot Summers

HEP schedules pre-season tune-ups to prepare AC systems before temperature spikes hit Seymour. This proactive timing catches wear-and-tear from the previous cooling season and addresses winter idle effects such as:

  • Dust accumulation on coil surfaces
  • Dry bearing seals
  • Thermostat sensor drift

Indoor Air Quality Enhancements Beyond Cooling

Cooling comfort and air purity go hand in hand. HEP expands service scope to target airborne contaminants often amplified by sealed, energy-efficient homes.

Advanced Filtration and Purification

Upgrading from a standard fiberglass filter to a high-MERV media cabinet dramatically reduces dust, pollen, and pet dander. For even finer purification, HEP installs:

  • Electronic air cleaners waging electrostatic charges on particles
  • UV germicidal lamps positioned near coils to neutralize microbes
  • Photocatalytic oxidizers that break down odors and volatile organic compounds

Duct Sealing and Airflow Balancing

Poorly sealed or imbalanced duct runs undermine even the most advanced AC equipment. Using mastic sealant or aerosolized sealing technology, HEP eliminates leaks, ensuring conditioned air reaches every corner of the home.

Energy-Efficient Upgrades Tailored to Your Property

With utility costs climbing, adopting smarter HVAC technologies offers a direct path to budget relief and environmental stewardship.

Smart Thermostat Integration

Programmable thermostats have evolved into intelligent climate managers. HEP configures devices that learn household routines, automatically adjusting temperature setpoints to minimize energy use without sacrificing comfort. Key benefits include:

  • Remote adjustments via mobile apps
  • Detailed energy consumption reports
  • Voice command compatibility for hands-free control

Variable-Speed Compressor Technology

Traditional single-stage compressors run at full capacity or not at all, causing temperature swings. Variable-speed units fine-tune output across multiple speeds, delivering:

  • Consistent indoor temperatures
  • Quieter operation
  • Lower energy demand during partial-load conditions

Why Homeowners in Seymour Choose HEP

The emphasis on neatness preserves homeowner comfort throughout the service visit.

Commitment to Sustainable Practices

HEP responsibly recovers and recycles refrigerants, adheres to strict disposal protocols for replaced components, and recommends eco-friendly upgrades when viable. This environmentally conscious approach aligns with modern sustainability goals.

Maintenance Tips Homeowners Can Apply Between Visits

Proper care between professional appointments amplifies long-term system health and efficiency.

Replace or Clean Filters Regularly

A clogged filter restricts airflow, forcing the blower motor to work harder. Most households benefit from filter checks every 30 days during peak cooling periods. High-MERV or HEPA filters may require more frequent attention due to denser media.

Keep Outdoor Units Clear of Debris

Leaves, grass clippings, and mulch can restrict condenser coil airflow. Maintain at least two feet of clearance on all sides of the outdoor unit and gently rinse coils with a garden hose if dirt buildup becomes visible.

Monitor Thermostat Settings

Minor adjustments can produce notable savings. Raising the setpoint by even one or two degrees during daytime hours reduces compressor workload. Utilizing the thermostat’s scheduling features ensures changes occur automatically, eliminating manual oversight.

Understanding SEER and Efficiency Ratings

Choosing a new air-conditioning system involves more than matching tonnage to square footage. Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) ratings provide a standardized measure of performance.

How SEER Impacts Operating Costs

A higher SEER rating indicates greater efficiency over the course of a cooling season. For Seymour homeowners:

  • A 14-SEER baseline unit serves as the minimum standard for modern systems
  • Upgrading to 18-SEER or higher can reduce cooling energy consumption by up to 30 %
  • Improved efficiency often translates into quieter operation and enhanced humidity control

Matching SEER to Household Needs

While the highest rating may seem appealing, HEP evaluates several factors before recommending equipment:

  • Typical daily runtime based on occupant schedules
  • Existing duct condition and insulation quality
  • Local utility incentives focused on specific efficiency tiers

Balancing upfront investment with realistic energy savings ensures homeowners receive tangible value.

Refrigerant Stewardship and Eco-Conscious Service

Refrigerants cool the air, but their environmental impact varies widely. HEP embraces responsible handling and future-ready solutions.

Transition to Low-GWP Refrigerants

Legacy refrigerants such as R-22 are being phased out due to ozone depletion potential. HEP:

  • Advises replacement or retrofitting for systems relying on discontinued refrigerants
  • Recommends units charged with R-410A or emerging low-GWP blends to reduce greenhouse impact
  • Provides guidance on available tax credits tied to environmentally friendly upgrades

Safe Recovery and Recycling Practices

During repairs and replacements, HEP technicians employ EPA-approved recovery machines to capture refrigerant. Collected refrigerant is either:

  • Recycled and re-certified for reuse
  • Dispatched to specialized facilities for legal destruction

This closed-loop approach prevents atmospheric release and aligns with federal environmental regulations.

Comprehensive Airflow Optimization: The HEP Approach

Efficient cooling depends on more than the mechanical unit. Balanced airflow ensures every room receives the correct volume of conditioned air.

Room-by-Room CFM Balancing

Using anemometers and pressure gauges, technicians measure cubic feet per minute (CFM) at each supply vent. Adjustments may include:

  • Modifying damper positions for equitable distribution
  • Slightly resizing supply registers in under-conditioned rooms
  • Adding return air pathways to relieve pressure imbalances

Duct Design Enhancements

Older homes in Seymour often feature ductwork designed before today’s efficiency standards. HEP upgrades layouts by:

  • Replacing sharp 90-degree elbows with sweeping turns to minimize static pressure
  • Wrapping ducts in high-R-value insulation to curb thermal losses in unconditioned attics
  • Eliminating unnecessary branch splits that reduce airflow to distant rooms

Integrating HVAC with Whole-Home Performance

Heating and cooling efficiency multiplies when paired with complementary improvements.

Insulation and Air-Sealing Coordination

Adding attic insulation or sealing rim joists reduces heat gain, allowing AC systems to operate at lower capacity. HEP collaborates with insulation contractors to synchronize upgrades, ensuring:

  • Correct equipment sizing that matches the newly reduced load
  • Preventing short-cycling caused by oversizing after insulation improvements

Windows, Shading, and Solar Heat Gain

Even high-SEER units struggle against unchecked solar heat. Simple measures, such as reflective window films or strategic landscaping, lower indoor temperatures naturally. HEP advises on:

  • Determining solar heat gain coefficients for window upgrades
  • Positioning deciduous trees to block summer sun while allowing winter warmth

Tailored Solutions for Home Remodels and New Construction

Expanding a living space or building from scratch unlocks opportunities for precision HVAC planning.

Load Calculations for Additions

When homeowners add square footage—such as sunrooms or finished basements—HEP recalculates heating and cooling loads. Options may include:

  • Extending existing ductwork with staged zoning controls
  • Installing ductless mini-split systems for targeted comfort in new spaces

Future-Proofing with Modular HVAC Design

New construction allows incorporation of modular air handlers, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) technology, and dedicated ventilation systems. These designs:

  • Simplify maintenance by isolating service zones
  • Adapt to evolving family needs without wholesale system replacement

Homeowners investing in forward-thinking HVAC infrastructure enjoy scalable comfort, energy savings, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing their system can adapt to future technological advancements.
