My heating and air unit completely quit on me the other day. I called HEP as they were the only ones who could come out on a moments notice. Unfortunately I had to get a whole new heating and air system (the writing was on the wall for some time, I was just waiting for the inevitable). I was financed the same day (at 8pm!!) and set up the installation. I was told it would take 6 to 8 hours estimate for the work to be done. The gentlemen that came to install the unit (Javi and Eric(?)) came on time and were very friendly and courteous and knowledgeable. They had the old system removed and the new one installed in just a little over 3 hours. I was all around very impressed with the work that was done...from the person that took my phone call the other day, to the technician that came out to diagnose the problem and helped me get financed and the gentlemen that installed the new system. Everyone was personable and knowledgeable throughout the whole process. I would definitely recommend HEP to anyone that is in need of home service that you can't do yourself.

When coastal breezes collide with warm summer highs and damp winter chills, Newport properties need climate control systems that respond quickly, run efficiently, and last for decades. HEP delivers an all-inclusive suite of heating and air conditioning services that keep homes, offices, historic buildings, and modern commercial facilities comfortable year-round. By pairing industry-leading equipment with meticulous craftsmanship, HEP ensures that each installation, repair, and maintenance visit meets the unique demands of Newport’s maritime climate.

HEP Company: Newport’s Trusted Name in Climate Control

HEP’s approach centers on reliability, transparency, and respect for historic architecture as well as cutting-edge construction. Every technician commits to ongoing training in refrigerant management, airflow dynamics, and energy-efficient technologies. Local knowledge matters, too: HEP teams understand how salty air accelerates corrosion, how high humidity strains condensate management, and how dense coastal housing layouts influence duct routing. Clients receive recommendations shaped by first-hand Newport experience rather than generic formulas.

Full-Service Air Conditioning Work

HEP offers comprehensive air conditioning work that covers each phase of a system’s life cycle. This holistic model provides consistency and accountability, from the first heat-load calculation to the last inspection sticker on the condenser.

AC Installation Expertise

A successful installation begins long before the truck pulls up with equipment. HEP consultants perform:

  • Detailed load calculations that consider sunlight exposure, insulation values, window placements, and occupant density
  • Airflow modeling that maps optimal duct runs or mini-split line-set paths
  • Equipment sizing that balances immediate comfort demands with future expansion plans

After planning, technicians execute:

  • Secure mounting of condensers and air handlers using corrosion-resistant hardware
  • Sealed duct connections with mastic or vapor-proof tape to eliminate leakage
  • Precision refrigerant charging that meets manufacturer specifications

The result is an air conditioning system calibrated to Newport’s temperature swings and salt-laden air, operating at peak efficiency from day one.

AC Repair and Troubleshooting

Even well-installed systems experience wear. HEP’s repair protocols minimize downtime by combining fast diagnostics with quality parts. Common issues addressed include:

  • Compressor short cycling caused by corroded coils
  • Inefficient cooling due to clogged condensate drains and mold growth
  • Electrical faults from moisture-compromised contacts

Technicians arrive with full diagnostic kits—digital manifold gauges, thermographic imaging cameras, and airflow meters—to isolate root causes swiftly. Repairs are completed with OEM or better components, restoring performance while extending system lifespan.

Preventive Maintenance Programs

Preventive maintenance remains the most cost-effective tool for avoiding breakdowns. HEP designs seasonal service schedules based on Newport’s climate curve:

  • Spring tune-ups focus on cleaning condenser fins, checking refrigerant charge, and verifying thermostat calibration before the first heat wave.
  • Fall inspections emphasize heat pump changeovers, reversing valve checks, and booster heat strip testing as temperatures decline.

Benefits include:

  • Lower utility bills through optimized refrigerant levels
  • Improved indoor air quality via regularly replaced filters and sanitized coils
  • Early detection of corrosion, preventing catastrophic leaks

Heating Services to Complement Cooling

While coastal Rhode Island is famed for its mild summers, winter can bring icy Atlantic winds. HEP integrates heating solutions that dovetail with air conditioning infrastructure, ensuring seamless transitions between seasons.

Heat Pump Upgrades

Modern heat pumps provide both heating and cooling by reversing refrigerant flow. HEP’s high-efficiency heat pump installations deliver:

  • Superior performance in temperatures as low as 5°F, thanks to variable-speed inverter technology
  • Reduced carbon footprint compared to fossil fuel furnaces
  • Quiet operation suitable for Newport’s dense residential zones

Auxiliary and Backup Heaters

For periods of extreme cold, HEP installs and services auxiliary heaters:

  • Electric resistance strips within air handlers
  • Hydronic coils fed by high-efficiency boilers
  • Gas-fired furnaces configured as dual-fuel systems with heat pumps

These hybrid setups maximize comfort without sacrificing energy savings when milder temperatures return.

Indoor Air Quality Enhancements

Humidity, allergens, and coastal pollutants can undermine comfort even when temperatures are perfect. HEP’s indoor air quality (IAQ) portfolio addresses these hidden threats.

Dehumidification and Humidity Control

Newport’s summer humidity fosters mold, dust mite proliferation, and musty odors. HEP mitigates these issues through:

  • Whole-home dehumidifiers integrated into central ductwork
  • Variable-speed fan controls that balance moisture removal with airflow efficiency

Air Filtration and Purification

From pollen blown off nearby parks to fine particulates carried by ocean winds, indoor air requires active filtration. HEP offers:

  • High-MERV pleated filters capturing microscopic contaminants
  • HEPA bypass systems adding hospital-grade filtration to existing ducts
  • UV-C lamp assemblies neutralizing airborne pathogens across the coil surface

Ventilation Strategies

Older Newport homes often lack mechanical ventilation, relying on passive infiltration. HEP designs energy-recovery ventilator (ERV) systems that:

  • Exchange stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air while reclaiming heat or cooling energy
  • Balance pressure to prevent drafts and moisture intrusion
  • Reduce carbon dioxide buildup in tightly insulated rooms

Energy Efficiency and Sustainability

Rising energy costs and environmental concerns place efficiency at the forefront of HVAC decisions. HEP couples cutting-edge technology with practical recommendations to achieve measurable savings.

SEER and HSPF Optimization

Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) and Heating Seasonal Performance Factor (HSPF) quantify equipment performance. HEP guides clients toward:

  • 18+ SEER condensers for substantial cooling cost reductions
  • 10+ HSPF heat pumps that outperform legacy systems, especially during shoulder seasons
  • Variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems for multi-zone applications where load diversity exists

Smart Home Integration

HEP installs network-connected thermostats that learn user behavior, integrate with weather forecasts, and provide remote control. Benefits include:

  • Automated setback schedules reducing energy use during unoccupied hours
  • Real-time alerts for filter changes or abnormal operating patterns
