We were pleased with everyone who took care of us. Efficient ,caring and polite people on the phone. Chase's service, Rick sales, and James and Tommy's installation were all first class. Our heat went out in the extreme cold. I called a HEP competitor first as many people told me they were cheaper. But the cheap service wouldn't come out and check for two days and installation would be five days after that. We had no heat! On the other hand, Chase from HEP came out and checked the day I called. Then Rick came over that same day to tell us our options. We took care of business and just over a day of finalizing had our heat. Tommy and James were great and the installation went quickly. Now someone will come out and check in two days that everything is working properly. It is. And twice yearly inspection is included in the price. We like the Carrier and you get what you pay for.

We needed a repair to our AC system at the peak of last summer's heat and HEP were the only folks who were able to come out (or even answer the phone, for that matter). They actually managed to get someone to our place that same day and relieve our 95° misery. So I was quick to consider them last week when we had more trouble with our 10-year-old system this spring. Again they were very responsive - and although they weren't able to fix the problem right then (a combination of factors necessitated a more extensive replacement) they promptly quoted the more involved work that was needed. I considered other options for a couple of days without seeing an obvious better choice that was available to do the work, then called to say I was ready to hire HEP for the work. Bob Mathews promptly came to my workplace to finalize all the details of the proposal with me... and then arranged for the work to begin within two days, even though it was an awkward downtown job the would require a crane for roof access. When the actual day of work came I had a last minute panic about the specific equipment choice we'd made and Bob was quick to answer the phone and go over the details again, clarifying my area of uncertainty. The team who came to do the actual installation of our new coils and condenser unit consisted of Tommy Fitzgerald and Joshua McCarty, both excellent guys. They were intent on doing a thorough job and communicating what they were up to as they did it. My wife and I both felt completely comfortable with them. All in all this was a great experience, even though it involved suddenly having to spend a bit of cash we weren't expecting to. Thanks Bob, Joe, Tommy, and Joshua - it's great to have working AC again!

The HEP Heat Repair Process

Transparency and thoroughness guide every step of a HEP service call. Homeowners can expect a structured, five-phase approach that minimizes disruption while prioritizing long-term performance.

1. Preliminary System Evaluation

Technicians begin with a detailed conversation regarding recent performance changes: uneven heating, unusual noises, cycling issues, or rising energy costs. This conversation informs the diagnostic plan and aligns expectations before tools leave the truck.

2. Comprehensive Diagnostic Testing

A multi-point inspection follows, covering:

  • Thermostat calibration and communication with control boards
  • Voltage and amperage measurements on blower motors and inducer fans
  • Combustion analysis for gas furnaces, including CO levels and flue draft
  • Refrigerant pressure checks for heat pump systems
  • Visual inspection for corrosion, cracked heat exchangers, and damaged wiring

Advanced instruments—such as infrared thermometers, manometers, and digital multimeters—pinpoint hidden faults that a simple visual check can miss.

3. Root-Cause Identification

HEP technicians correlate test results with manufacturer specifications to isolate the exact failure point. Whether the issue stems from a faulty flame sensor, clogged condensate drain, or misaligned blower wheel, they provide a clear explanation in straightforward language.

4. Precision Repair and Component Replacement

Repairs proceed only after homeowner approval. Stocked service vehicles carry:

  • OEM igniters, limit switches, and pressure sensors
  • Universal motors and run capacitors
  • Pilot assemblies, thermocouples, and gas valves
  • Compressor hard-start kits and reversing valves

On-site replacements reduce downtime, and each new part undergoes immediate testing under load conditions to verify proper function.

5. Performance Verification and System Optimization

Repairs conclude with a full operational check:

  • Heat rise measurements ensure adequate temperature differentials
  • Airflow tests confirm balanced distribution across registers
  • Combustion retesting validates emissions meet safety thresholds
  • Final thermostat programming maximizes comfort and efficiency

Technicians also provide maintenance recommendations to support year-round reliability, such as filter schedules or duct cleaning intervals.

Signs Your Morristown Heating System Needs Professional Attention

Recognizing early indicators of trouble can save substantial repair costs. Residents should keep an eye on the following warning signs and contact HEP promptly if they emerge:
