FAQs

Why should I opt for pipe upgrades in Athens?

Pipe upgrades can significantly enhance the efficiency and safety of your plumbing system. In Athens, older pipes are more prone to leaks, clogs, and water damage due to aging materials and local water conditions. Upgrading your pipes not only reduces the risk of emergencies but also improves water flow and overall home value.

How do I know if my pipes need upgrading?

There are several signs that indicate your pipes may need an upgrade. Frequent leaks, low water pressure, discolored water, or recurring hydration issues are common warning signs. Additionally, if your home was built several decades ago, your pipes might be made of outdated materials such as galvanized steel or lead, which can compromise water quality and safety.

What types of pipes are typically upgraded, and what materials are used?

Most pipe upgrades in Athens involve replacing outdated metal pipes with modern, durable alternatives. Common materials used for pipe upgrades include copper, PEX (cross-linked polyethylene), and CPVC. Each material has its advantages: copper is long-lasting and resistant to bacteria, PEX is flexible and ideal for retrofits, while CPVC offers a cost-effective solution with good heat resistance.

How long will a pipe upgrade project take?

The duration of a pipe upgrade project depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the extent of the upgrades needed, and the complexity of your plumbing system. On average, a complete pipe replacement can take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. Your plumbing professional will provide a more accurate timeline once the initial assessment is complete.

What should I expect during the pipe upgrade process?

During the pipe upgrade process, expect your plumbing contractor to first conduct a thorough inspection of the existing system. Once the assessment is complete, they will plan the replacement strategically to minimize disruption to your daily routine. The process typically involves shutting off the main water supply, removing old pipes, and installing new piping. Clean-up and testing will follow to ensure everything is functioning properly before the job is considered complete.

Are there any local regulations or permits required for pipe upgrades in Athens?

Yes, pipe upgrades usually require compliance with local building codes and regulations in Athens. Your plumbing professional should be familiar with the necessary permits and safety standards. They will handle the permit application process if needed, ensuring that the upgrades are performed legally and safely. It’s always a good idea to ask your contractor about the specifics of local regulations before starting the project.

What our customers say

After we were notified by First Utilities of our increased water usage, and told we probably had a leak, we called HEP. Jerel was able to find and repair the leak. He and Tim were very professional and explained what they found and what they fixed. I would definitely recommend them again.

Jarrell and Tim were excellent at their job, very professional. All DWV (Drain, waste, and vent) pipes were replaced and updated in a timely and efficient manner, with no evidence of our previous problems. All at a low cost as well! Outstanding work!

I had looked up copper lines and found Epoxy blowing to stop pin hole leaks but Tn. Doesn’t do it Illinois does. Cause I did not want to spend thousands for pipe repair under house. But Kyler gave me the no interest plan for around two years of paying is the only way I could do it - Justin and Kyler are very nice And seem to know exactly what they are doing -God Bless Them . Today Oct 16-2020 Zach and Austin removed old copper plumbing under our house. Installed new efficient updated materials. They were very kind and efficient, I would recommend these two 100 percent to everyone 🙏👍 They checked and made sure water working everywhere before leaving 👍

Our HEP technician Tim came out on a Saturday Halloween night to repair our outdoor water faucet which broke and would not stop running. In the end he ended up installing both a new faucet and a new shut off valve, which we had never had for this particular faucet. We were very happy with the jobs he performed. He arrived when he said he would (coming straight from another job), answered our questions, explained what he would need to do and provided an accurate estimate. Tim was very knowledgeable, polite and efficient. We would use HEP again and ask for Tim.
