What our customers say

The recent cold temperatures resulted in water problem issues. I got online looking for plumbers. I chose HEP because of their good reviews. The technicians arrived promptly and gave me an estimate quickly. I thought it was a very reasonable price. Colby Puckett and Chandler installed a new (PRV) pressure release valve. They had our water back on in less than an hour. I'm so thankful for the professional polite techs giving me my water back and I don't have to keep buying jugs of water anymore. HEP will be my go to company for any plumbing, electrical, roofing etc. issues in the future. It's nice to know that this company can repair so many different things. Thank you guys so much.

Due to a miscommunication I need to apologize for a negative review I left. Hep didn't call codes, but I imagine that codes inspector is working himself to the bone, and instead of hearing "rough-in inspection" I heard "complaint" and I am so very sorry I was so reactive. It's been over a year since the work was done and we've had zero leaks! Job well done y'all!

John Levardi and his crew were the hardest workers I have ever seen. They got to work and never stopped except for lunch until the job was completed, took off old shingles and replaced bad wood and got new shingles on. Large roof including garage, wonderful crew including all office staff. I would give them ten stars.

Mr Olin White from HEP arrived a little bit early which was very nice, he was very polite, very professional. He took the time to listen to my husband and I to get a better feel of what we were trying to accomplish. We have not started our project yet but I cannot imagine that their work will be anything less than stellar. I will recommend them too all of my family and friends and anyone else who I find needs a roof.

HEP and the Rise of Metal Roofing in McMinnville

Metal roofing has transformed from a niche solution into a preferred roofing system throughout McMinnville, and HEP is at the center of this evolution. Homeowners and commercial property owners alike are discovering the merits of metal panels, standing-seam designs, and architectural metal shingles. HEP’s crews bring deep technical knowledge, jobsite discipline, and a passion for craftsmanship that consistently elevates projects across Warren County and the surrounding hill country.

Why McMinnville Properties Are Choosing Metal

McMinnville’s climate poses unique challenges. Hot, humid summers transition abruptly into chilly, rain-soaked winters, and spring thunderstorms can deliver sudden gust fronts strong enough to lift traditional shingles. Metal roofing offers a strong defense against all of these stressors, and HEP has refined its installation methods to align with local building codes, neighborhood aesthetics, and environmental needs.

  • Weather-tight seams repel wind-driven rain
  • High reflectivity mitigates attic heat gain during peak summer sun
  • Non-combustible panels add fire resistance for rural properties
  • Minimal maintenance suits busy homeowners and facility managers
  • Long service life reduces landfill waste

These benefits serve as the foundation of HEP’s value proposition, but the company’s true strength lies in the detailed procedures and quality controls that ensure every roof performs at its maximum potential.

HEP’s Step-by-Step Approach to Metal Roof Success

A metal roof is a system, not just a layer of panels. Each detail—fastener placement, underlayment selection, panel profile—affects performance. HEP has codified a repeatable workflow so that every McMinnville client receives a roofing assembly engineered for local loads, slope requirements, and aesthetic objectives.

Site Inspection and Structural Assessment

Before a single panel is ordered, HEP’s technicians perform an on-site evaluation that reveals:

  • Deck condition and moisture readings
  • Truss or rafter spacing compliance
  • Attic ventilation equilibrium
  • Potential penetrations such as chimneys, skylights, or solar mounts

Armed with this data, the team determines whether structural reinforcement, decking replacement, or ventilation upgrades should be incorporated into the scope. Doing so prevents common pitfalls such as panel oil-canning, condensation buildup beneath the roof skin, and premature fastener failure.

Material Selection: More Than Just “Metal”

Metal roofing encompasses a spectrum of alloys, coatings, and profiles. HEP curates options according to McMinnville-specific performance benchmarks:

  1. Galvalume panels with Kynar 500® finishes for long-term color stability
  2. Aluminum shingles for waterfront or high-humidity microclimates
  3. Standing-seam steel panels engineered for wind speeds up to 140 mph

This material screening helps property owners match their energy goals, design vision, and longevity expectations with the correct substrate and finish. Every panel batch is traceable to its mill certification, ensuring consistent gauge thickness, coating weight, and tensile strength.

Precision Fabrication and Logistics

In HEP’s controlled fabrication environment, panels are measured and cut to custom lengths. Where feasible, field-formed standing-seam panels minimize horizontal seams, reducing leak paths. Each pallet is labeled for rapid identification, expediting onsite installation and limiting jobsite clutter on narrower McMinnville streets.

  • Panel hem bends are checked with calipers
  • Clip spacing is pre-marked to match engineering specs
  • Trim components—rake, ridge, eave, valley—are roll-formed to exact angles

Transportation crews secure the bundles on soft padded racks, preventing micro-scratches that could compromise the finish warranting.

Installation: A Fusion of Skill and Technology

Once onsite, HEP’s foreman aligns laser-guided chalk lines. Panel fasteners are torque-controlled to avoid overtightening, which can distort washers, or undertightening, which invites water intrusion. The installation sequence follows prevailing wind direction to overlap seams appropriately.

Underlayment and Ventilation

HEP relies on high-temperature synthetic underlayments rather than conventional felt. This choice:

  • Resists tear-through under foot traffic
  • Withstands 250 °F peak roof-deck temperatures
  • Provides superior slip resistance for installer safety

Continuous ridge vents and soffit intakes are integrated to ensure balanced airflow, mitigating moisture accumulation and extending insulation performance.

Onsite Quality Checks

During every phase, HEP utilizes a tablet-based inspection checklist that includes:

  • Fastener corrosion-resistance verification
  • Overlap widths within ⅛-inch tolerance
  • Sealant bead continuity around penetrations
  • Panel flatness assessment under raking light

Photos and data points synchronize to a cloud portal, giving project managers and clients transparent progress tracking.

Design and Aesthetic Versatility

Many McMinnville homeowners initially equate metal roofing with utilitarian barn panels. HEP demonstrates that modern manufacturing offers a palette of shapes, colors, and textures compatible with both historic cottages along West Main Street and contemporary commercial developments near U.S. Highway 70S.

Contemporary Standing-Seam Profiles

Standing-seam metal roofs provide a sleek, uninterrupted appearance that fits modern farmhouse designs as well as minimalist commercial façades. HEP offers:

  • Snap-lock panels for quicker installation on slopes steeper than 3:12
  • Mechanical-lock seams for low-slope applications requiring higher uplift resistance
  • Pencil-rib accents or striations to diminish oil-canning and add visual rhythm

Metal Shingles and Tiles

For neighborhoods with strict architectural guidelines, stamped metal shingles mimic slate, wood shakes, or Mediterranean tiles while delivering the lightweight, low-maintenance benefits of steel or aluminum.

  • Deep embossing for authentic shadow lines
  • Concealed fastening for clean finish and enhanced water shedding
  • Interlocking edges to secure against lateral wind loads

Color Science and Coatings

Kynar-based PVDF coatings maintain saturation and gloss over decades of Tennessee UV exposure. HEP offers a curated spectrum ranging from earth-toned browns and greens to modern charcoal grays. Reflective pigment technology can even reduce cooling loads in summer.

Environmental and Economic Impacts

Energy Efficiency in Humid Subtropical Climates

Metal roofing’s high solar reflectance index (SRI) limits heat transfer into the attic space. Cooler attic air translates to:

  • Reduced HVAC runtime during July and August
  • Consistent indoor comfort without frequent thermostat adjustments
  • Lower long-term mechanical equipment wear

Reflective coatings paired with strategic ridge-to-soffit ventilation enhance these energy savings.

Sustainability and Lifecycle Performance

A HEP-installed metal roof often contains 25-35 % recycled content and remains 100 % recyclable at end-of-life. Its service expectancy regularly doubles or triples that of conventional asphalt shingles. Over the course of 40-70 years, McMinnville property owners benefit from:

  • Fewer tear-off cycles and reduced landfill impact
  • Lower cumulative material consumption
  • Stable roofing costs spread across decades rather than every 15–20 years

HEP collaborates with regional recycling centers to ensure that any offcuts generated during installation are responsibly processed.

Weather Resilience Tailored to the Cumberland Plateau

McMinnville’s position on the western edge of the Cumberland Plateau exposes roofs to sudden elevation-driven weather shifts. HEP specifies panel gauges, clip strengths, and fastening schedules that exceed minimum code requirements for:

  • Wind uplift resistance
  • Hailstone impact deflection
  • Ice dam formation mitigation through superior thermal bridging control

In high wind zones or open rural exposures, optional foam backers in panel ribs increase point-load resistance. Where seasonal leaf buildup threatens valley areas, HEP incorporates debris-shedding profiles and enhanced gutter guards.

The Role of Maintenance in Metal Roofing Longevity

Even the most robust roof benefits from periodic inspections and minimal upkeep. HEP educates clients on a proactive maintenance mindset designed to protect warranty coverage and optimize performance.

Annual Visual Walk-Around

Homeowners or maintenance staff can perform a simple perimeter scan:

  • Check for branch contact points after storms
  • Confirm gutters remain clear for steady water flow
  • Observe fastener heads for paint loss or rust bloom

Professional Follow-Up

Every few years, HEP teams schedule a comprehensive inspection to:

  • Test sealant elasticity at critical joints
  • Reapply protective coating to rooftop accessories like vent stacks
  • Document any changes in structural movement that could affect panel alignment

This collaborative approach sustains the roof’s watertight integrity and aesthetic appeal for decades.

Metal Roofing for Commercial and Agricultural Sites

Beyond residences, HEP’s metal roofing expertise supports local businesses, churches, and farm operations.

Commercial Structures

Standing-seam systems installed by HEP for offices, retail buildings, and industrial facilities offer:

  • Wide-span clip configurations to accommodate thermal expansion
  • Factory-applied strippable film protecting panels from construction debris
  • Integrations with rooftop mechanical equipment via curb flashing kits

Agricultural Buildings

Barns, equipment sheds, and poultry houses benefit from:

  • Galvalume or galvanized substrates resisting ammonia off-gassing
  • Deep-rib panels providing structural rigidity without additional decking
  • Pre-punched fastening guides enabling faster installation cycles

Safety Culture on Every Jobsite

HEP’s reputation in McMinnville is built not only on craftsmanship but also on meticulous safety standards. OSHA-compliant fall-protection plans are generated for each address, encompassing:

  • Anchor point layout
  • Guardrail or warning-line placement for low-slope roofs
  • Daily tool and ladder inspections

Crew members undergo periodic training covering harness usage, first-aid response, and hazard communication protocols. This disciplined environment protects workers and property owners alike, reducing the risk of project delays.

Warranties: Protecting the Investment

A metal roof is an investment expected to pay dividends in durability and peace of mind. HEP recognizes this expectation and aligns its warranty programs accordingly.

Manufacturer Backing

Panel suppliers extend finish warranties that commonly span 30–40 years against:

  • Chalk and fade beyond specified Delta E thresholds
  • Film integrity degradation
  • Rust perforation where protective coatings remain intact

HEP Craftsmanship Coverage

In addition to manufacturer terms, HEP provides its own workmanship warranty. It assures that:

  • Flashings adhere to Metal Construction Association guidelines
  • Fastener patterns meet or exceed engineering specifications
  • Leak-related repairs stemming from installation error are resolved promptly

Combined, these warranties form a robust safety net, ensuring the roof’s structural and aesthetic performance remains consistent over time.

Innovations Driving the Next Generation of Metal Roofing

The metal roofing sector continues to evolve, and HEP actively incorporates technological advances that offer tangible benefits to McMinnville clients.

Cool Roof Pigments

Advancements in infrared-reflective pigments increase solar reflectivity without sacrificing rich, dark color options. Property owners can now enjoy deep graphite or forest-green aesthetics while maintaining ENERGY STAR®-qualified performance.

Integrated Solar-Ready Panels

HEP prepares roofs for emerging solar technologies by installing clip systems and seam clamps engineered to secure photovoltaic arrays without penetrating the metal skin. This strategy preserves watertight integrity and simplifies future renewable-energy upgrades.

Acoustic Underlayments

To address concerns about rain noise, HEP can introduce mass-loaded vinyl or high-density fiber underlays during installation. These additions dampen impact acoustics, making metal roofing as quiet as—or quieter than—traditional shingles.

Community Commitment and Local Familiarity

HEP’s crews live, work, and send their children to school in the same communities they serve. This local presence yields intimate understanding of:

  • County permitting procedures and inspection sequences
  • Neighborhood association design criteria
  • Seasonal storm patterns and microclimate nuances across McMinnville and surrounding hamlets such as Centertown and Irving College

That familiarity streamlines project timelines and aligns finished roofs with community standards.
