What our customers say

HEP installed our Trane unit a couple of years ago and were here yesterday to inspect the system as part of our agreement with them. The technician was very nice, called ahead, arrived on time, put disposable covers over his shoes before entering our home. He did a thorough job with the inspection and gave us hints on the filters we need to be using for most efficient operation. We have used them for electrical problems and for plumbing issues and have always been very satisfied with the work. I like that they answer the phone when you call as opposed to getting a recording. When they give you a range on the time that they will be coming, they always honor it. We first used them for an electrical emergency about three years ago and have had them back several times since and have always been happy with the service.

HEP has been wonderful. I created an electrical problem which when I call HEP they sent out a tech who fixed it and then looked at my heating unit. I have known for sometime that the unit needed to be replaced. Doug was kind enough to evaluate the current system and at his suggestion I asked for a salesman to meet with me. He was kind enough to get the salesman here the same day and I purchased a unit that they are installing now. It has been like clockwork, each piece of the puzzle coming together. HEP you have a great team that knows how to work in sync. Thank you so much.

Our eleven-year-old heating and air conditioning system failed early in the Summer. We called HEP and after some discussion with their advisors we decided to invest in a state-of-the-art HVAC system manufactured by Trane and sold through HEP. It was installed quickly and efficiently and without delay by HEP service men. Part of the attraction was the Warranty offered by HEP which included a three-year-maintenance-and inspection-agreement on all household plumbing and electrical equipment, as well as a full ten-year-parts-and-labor Warranty on the HVAC system itself. Subsequently, we required service on our hot-tub and HEP's response ( from serviceman Richie) was quick, professional, and reasonable. We found him to be courteous and helpful. The problem turned out to be minor and we were only charged accordingly and fairly. We intend to continue to be HEP customers for all of our plumbing, electrical, and HVAC needs for the foreseeable future.

HEP’s electricians evaluate roof geometry, shading, and owner preferences before recommending the optimal topology.

Racking and Mounting Systems

Secure panel attachment is vital in New Jersey’s climate. HEP relies on:

  • Rail-based systems with integrated grounding lugs
  • Rail-less clamps that decrease penetrations on metal roofs
  • Ballasted trays for flat commercial roofs, reducing structural stress

All fasteners are stainless or anodized aluminum to prevent galvanic corrosion.

Monitoring Hardware and Software

Modern PV plants are only as transparent as their data flow. HEP installs:

  • Gateway devices linking the array to secure cloud servers
  • Easy-to-navigate dashboards viewable on smartphones or browsers
  • Automated alerts for fault conditions, aiding quick service calls

Transparent performance reporting lets owners verify each sunbeam’s contribution to their utility bill and carbon footprint.

Morristown-Specific Considerations for Solar Installations

Historic District Aesthetics

Certain Morristown neighborhoods fall under historic preservation guidelines. HEP’s design team:

  • Proposes low-profile black-framed modules that blend with slate or shingle roofs
  • Positions conduits on rear roof planes whenever feasible
  • Collaborates with architectural review boards to satisfy visual criteria

Snow Load and Winter Performance

New Jersey winters bring snow events that can temporarily obscure panels. To mitigate loss:

  • Racking is tilted to promote natural shedding
  • Panels are installed with frameless edges or snow-management accessories when pitch is shallow
  • Monitoring tools track output drops, allowing timely clearing if needed

Thanks to these strategies, winter production remains robust, and annual yield stays on target.

Tree Canopy & Shading Dynamics

Morristown’s tree-lined streets provide welcome summer shade but can complicate solar siting. HEP conducts:

  • Detailed shading simulations across all four seasons
  • Selective trimming recommendations that preserve tree health
  • Microinverter or power optimizer deployments to isolate shaded modules

The result: maximum annual output without sacrificing the town’s leafy ambience.

Navigating Permits, Codes, and Inspections the HEP Way

Electrical work in New Jersey is governed by both state codes and municipal ordinances. HEP’s permitting desk ensures:

  • Adherence to the latest NEC edition, including 690.12 rapid shutdown rules
  • Proper labeling of disconnects and service entrance conductors
  • Fire setbacks on roof planes in line with the International Fire Code (IFC)

On inspection day, HEP’s lead electrician accompanies town officials, ready to demonstrate:

  • Correct torque values via calibrated wrenches
  • Array grounding continuity readings
  • Compliance of roof penetrations with approved fire-rated sealants

This proactive partnership translates into smoother approvals and accelerated project completion.

The Role of Net Metering in Morristown

Net metering allows solar owners to export excess kilowatt-hours to the grid and receive credit. HEP ensures proper integration by:

  • Installing bi-directional meters once the utility grants permission to operate
  • Programming inverters for anti-islanding protection, safeguarding line workers
  • Advising owners on utility statements, clarifying the flow of credits month to month

With net metering in place, daytime overproduction offsets nighttime consumption, maximizing return on every installed watt.

Solar + Storage: Preparing for the Next Energy Frontier

While a grid-tied PV system already offers substantial savings, battery storage adds resilience. Morristown experiences occasional storm-related outages, particularly during hurricane season. HEP designs systems that:

  • Seamlessly incorporate lithium-iron-phosphate batteries in weatherproof enclosures
  • Provide whole-home or critical-load backup during grid failures
  • Shift excess solar from midday to evening peaks, further reducing grid draw

Even if storage is not installed initially, HEP wires the system for future add-ons, sparing owners costly retrofits down the line.

Maintenance and Performance Assurance

Solar arrays require minimal upkeep, yet proactive monitoring ensures longevity. HEP offers periodic service visits that include:

  • Visual inspection of modules for soiling or micro-cracks
