FAQs

What are the signs that my tank water heater needs repair?

Common signs that your tank water heater needs repair include inconsistent water temperature, low hot water pressure, unusual noises coming from the unit, and visible leaks. If you notice any of these issues, it's advisable to contact a professional plumber in Gatlinburg to diagnose and fix the problem.

How often should I perform maintenance on my tank water heater?

It's recommended to have your tank water heater inspected and maintained once a year. Regular maintenance includes checking the anode rod, flushing the tank to remove sediment buildup, and ensuring all components are in good working condition. Annual inspections can help extend the lifespan of your water heater and improve its efficiency.

What size tank water heater do I need for my home?

The size of the tank water heater you need depends on the number of people in your household and your typical hot water usage. As a general guideline, a 40-50 gallon tank is suitable for a household of 2-4 people, while larger families might need a 50-80 gallon tank. Consulting with a professional plumber can help you determine the best size for your needs.

How can I improve the efficiency of my tank water heater?

To improve the efficiency of your tank water heater, consider the following tips: lower the thermostat to 120°F, insulate the tank and pipes, perform regular maintenance, and invest in a timer to avoid heating water when it's not needed. These practices can help reduce energy consumption and lower your utility bills.

What should I do if my tank water heater is leaking?

If you notice a leak in your tank water heater, the first step is to turn off the power supply (gas or electricity) to the unit. Next, shut off the water supply to prevent further leakage. Contact a professional plumber in Gatlinburg immediately to assess and repair the issue. Leaks can be caused by various factors, including a defective valve or a corroded tank, and should be addressed promptly.

How long does a typical tank water heater last?

The average lifespan of a tank water heater is around 8-12 years, depending on the quality of the unit and the regularity of maintenance. Proper care, such as annual inspections and timely repairs, can help maximize the lifespan of your water heater. If your unit is nearing the end of its life expectancy, you may want to consider upgrading to a newer, more energy-efficient model.

Had to have water heater replaced. HEP provided a competitive bid and performed the work very quickly. Jordan Keller & Curtis Barnett were the plumbers who did our install and they provided 5 star service the entire process. Very professional. They explained each step and what to expect, did an outstanding job on the install, and made sure everything was in order before leaving. While I hated having to replace the water heater, HEP, Jordan, and Curtis made the process easy for us. Would absolutely recommend.

The tech was punctual and solved my problem. He was very step by step to solve my water heater problem. Took readings and took the time to dump the tank, replace heating rods, fill tank, waited for tank to heat up and then tested the water temperature(after setting to 119 degrees) at all outlets. When the water heater was first put in the water was boiling hot that came out. The installer never checked the hotness of water at any outlets. 5 STAR rating for REUBEN... hope everyone gets a tech that is concerned enough to go through a step by step approach to solve the problem. THANK U REUBEN 👍
