When ambition meets amperage in Strawberry Plains, an exciting career in electrical starts right in your hands.

FAQs

What kinds of hands-on electrical projects will I work on in Strawberry Plains?

Participants tackle real-world residential and light-commercial tasks such as wiring receptacles and lighting circuits, bending and installing conduit, troubleshooting breaker panels, and safely testing live circuits with meters. We also include renewable-energy demos (small-scale solar hookups) when time permits, so you leave with practical experience that mirrors what local electricians do every day.

Do I need any prior electrical experience or certifications to join the program?

No. Our hands-on sessions are designed for all skill levels. We start with safety fundamentals and basic theory, then quickly move to guided practice. If you already hold an apprentice card or some formal education, our instructors will assign advanced tasks to keep you challenged. If you are brand new, we will teach you from the ground up.

What safety measures are in place during the hands-on training?

Safety is our first priority. Each participant receives a mandatory orientation covering lock-out/tag-out, PPE use, ladder safety, and OSHA 10 highlights. We provide insulated hand tools, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection. A 1:6 instructor-to-student ratio ensures close supervision, and all live-voltage exercises are performed on low-amp training panels equipped with GFCI protection and emergency shut-off switches.

How long is each session, and what does the weekly schedule look like?

Standard sessions run four hours each—morning (8 am-12 pm) or afternoon (1 pm-5 pm). Most participants attend two sessions per week over a six-week block, totaling 48 contact hours. Accelerated weekend bootcamps (two consecutive Saturdays and Sundays) are available quarterly for those with tight schedules. Private, one-on-one training can also be arranged.

Are tools and materials provided, or should I bring my own?

All specialty tools, copper wire, devices, and hardware are supplied and included in your tuition. You only need to bring closed-toe work shoes and wear long pants. If you already own professional hand tools and prefer to use them, you are welcome to do so, but it is not required. We also offer discounted toolkits for purchase if you’d like to continue practicing at home.

How do I enroll, and what does the program cost?

You can register online or call our Strawberry Plains office at (865) 555-0123. A $100 deposit secures your spot; the remaining tuition of $595 is due on the first day of class. Tuition covers instruction, lab materials, PPE, and a printable certificate of completion. Veterans and high-school seniors receive a 10 % discount, and group rates are available for companies sending three or more employees.
