FAQs
What types of electrical outlets can you install in Mascot homes and businesses?
We install a full range of outlet styles, including standard 10-amp GPOs, 15-amp appliance outlets, weather-proof external points, slimline and recessed plates, double and quad configurations, dedicated appliance outlets, USB-integrated outlets, and smart Wi-Fi or Zigbee controlled sockets. All products are Australian-approved and selected to suit your power requirements, dĂŠcor preferences, and budget.
Can I customise the location and appearance of my new outlets during a renovation?
Absolutely. During our onsite consultation we map out your furniture layout, appliance loads, and future technology plans, then recommend optimal heights, orientations, and face-plate designs. We stock a variety of colours, metallic finishes, glass touch plates, and low-profile options to match modern interiors. We also chase cables through walls or use skirting ducting to keep wiring concealed for a clean finish.
Do you install USB and smart outlets, and are they safe?
Yes. We offer outlets with built-in USB-A, USB-C, and even 30 W PD fast-charging modules, as well as smart sockets that integrate with Google Home, Alexa, and Apple HomeKit. All units carry SAA certification and include surge protection. Because USB electronics generate heat, we only use reputable brands with thermal cut-off features and install them on circuits rated for the additional standby load.
How long will the installation take and will my power be off the whole time?
A single outlet retrofit usually takes 30-45 minutes, while a house-wide upgrade can range from two hours to a full day depending on access. We isolate only the specific circuit weâre working on, so most of your home remains powered. Before shutting anything down we confirm with you, label breakers, and supply temporary lighting if needed. Your electricity is restored and tested immediately after each outlet is connected.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade or extra circuits if I add more outlets?
We perform a load calculation during quotation. If your existing circuits are already near capacityâcommon in older Mascot terracesâwe may run new dedicated circuits from the switchboard or upgrade to RCBO or RCD safety protection. If your switchboard contains re-wireable fuses or lacks safety switches, an upgrade is strongly recommended to meet AS/NZS 3000 standards and provide earth leakage protection for the new outlets.
What safety and compliance standards do your electricians follow in Mascot?
Every job is carried out by NSW licensed electricians and complies with the current AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules. We issue a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) on completion, lodge it with Service NSW, and test polarity, earth continuity, insulation resistance, and RCD trip times. Our team is fully insured, uses lock-out/tag-out procedures, and follows Work Health & Safety regulations to ensure your installation is both legally compliant and genuinely safe.
