Protect every corner of your property with HEP’s Critical Alerts Electrical service—your fast-acting shield against electrical hazards and hidden fire risks. Our advanced network continually checks for shorts, surges, and fluctuations, then pairs that vigilance with professionally installed smoke detectors that send instant notifications to your phone the moment danger is detected. Whether you’re home, at work, or on vacation, you’ll know exactly when and where an issue arises, empowering you to act before a minor spark becomes a devastating blaze.

Setup is quick, maintenance is effortless, and support is always on call. HEP’s smart dashboard shows real-time performance stats, battery health, and event history, so you can review, reset, or silence alarms with a tap—no ladder required. From saving lives to safeguarding investments, our integrated electrical monitoring and modern smoke detectors deliver peace of mind that never sleeps.

FAQs

Why are critical alerts necessary for electrically powered smoke detectors?

Critical alerts ensure you are immediately notified if your smoke detector senses smoke or an electrical fault. Because an electrical failure can silence or disable a detector, Jasper’s alert system constantly monitors power status, sensor health, and connectivity. If any anomaly is detected—such as loss of mains power, a wiring short, or sensor contamination—you receive a high-priority push notification, SMS, and email so you can act before fire-safety protection is compromised.

How does the Jasper platform detect and report smoke detector issues?

Each hard-wired smoke detector is connected to a smart relay or interface module that reports three data points to Jasper: (1) alarm state, (2) power/voltage status, and (3) sensor diagnostics. The data is sent over your home network to Jasper’s cloud servers, which analyze it in real time. If smoke is detected or the unit reports a fault, the system instantly generates a critical alert and sends it to all registered devices, including the mobile app, email, and any configured voice assistants.

What should I do when I receive a critical smoke detector alert?

1. Check for signs of smoke or fire; if present, evacuate immediately and call emergency services. 2. If no smoke is visible, inspect the detector that triggered the alert (the app display pinpoints the room). 3. Verify the detector has power: look for the green LED or test with the built-in button. 4. If the alert cites a sensor fault or low backup battery, replace the battery or the entire unit per the manufacturer’s instructions. 5. After resolving the issue, tap “Clear Alert” in the Jasper app to reset the notification.

How can I test that my electrical smoke detectors are communicating properly with Jasper?

Open the Jasper app, navigate to Devices > Smoke Detectors, and select the unit you want to test. Press and hold the physical test button on the detector for 3–5 seconds. The app should show a real-time ‘Test Signal Received’ message and issue a temporary test alert. If you do not see confirmation within 10 seconds, check wiring, Wi-Fi or Zigbee/Z-Wave connectivity (depending on your interface), and power supply. Repeat the test monthly to ensure continuous monitoring.

Do I still need a battery backup if my smoke detector is wired to mains electricity?

Yes. Building codes and UL standards require hard-wired detectors to have a battery backup so they continue operating during a power outage. Jasper’s monitoring module also relies on that battery to keep the detector and radio interface powered long enough to send alerts if mains power fails. Replace backup batteries at least once a year, or sooner if Jasper issues a low-battery alert.

When should electrical smoke detectors be replaced or serviced?

Smoke detectors—whether battery-only or hard-wired—should be replaced every 10 years from the date of manufacture, even if they still appear to work. Over time, dust, humidity, and sensor drift reduce sensitivity. Jasper tracks each detector’s installation date and will issue a proactive replacement reminder six months before end-of-life (EOL). Clean detectors gently with a vacuum every six months and test monthly to maintain optimal performance.
