Advanced Sensors | Smoke Detectors | Electrical | Erwin

Safeguard your home or business in Erwin with HEP’s advanced sensors electrical line, engineered for one purpose: early, dependable protection when every second counts. Our smoke detectors continuously sample the air for the faintest traces of combustion, then relay instant alerts to your phone, your smart hub, and any connected monitoring service—so you can act before a small flare becomes a costly disaster.

Built with precision circuitry and long-life lithium backup, these units shrug off false triggers from cooking steam or seasonal humidity while maintaining pinpoint sensitivity to real threats. Tool-free mounting, self-testing diagnostics, and seamless integration with existing HEP smart panels make upgrading effortless, and our local technicians are just a call away if you need guidance. Choose peace of mind powered by cutting-edge design, and let HEP’s advanced sensors electrical solutions watch over what matters most.

FAQs

What types of smoke detectors do you offer and how do they differ?

We install and service three main categories of detectors: • Photoelectric – Best at sensing smoldering fires that produce a lot of smoke; low false-alarm rate. • Ionization – React fastest to open-flame or fast-flashing fires; often required in commercial kitchens and workshops. • Multi-criteria/dual-sensor – Combine photoelectric, ionization, heat and/or gas sensing in one head; they analyse multiple data points to minimise nuisance alarms while detecting a wider range of fire conditions. We help you choose the right model—or a mix of models—based on your building layout, occupancy and hazard profile in Erwin.

Where should smoke detectors be installed to meet Erwin and NFPA 72 code requirements?

Current code calls for a detector inside every sleeping room, outside each sleeping area, on every level of the building (including basements), and in any room containing a solid-fuel-burning appliance. Ceiling mounts are preferred, at least 4 in (100 mm) from the nearest wall; wall mounts must be 4–12 in (100–300 mm) down from the ceiling. For peaked ceilings place the unit 3 ft (0.9 m) below the apex. Commercial occupancies follow spacing tables based on ceiling height and air flow. Our licensed technicians survey your home or business, produce a detector-placement drawing, pull any necessary Town of Erwin permits, and ensure full compliance with NFPA 72 and the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s adopted amendments.

How often should the detectors be tested and the batteries replaced?

• Monthly: Press the test button on each detector and confirm the horn sounds and any interconnected units trigger. • Every 6 months: Clean the sensor chamber with a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust. • Annually: Replace alkaline 9-V or AA backup batteries; lithium sealed-cell models are maintenance-free for 10 years. • Every 10 years: Replace the entire smoke detector, even if it still sounds—sensor performance degrades over time. We offer a free reminder service and affordable inspection plans so you never miss a test or replacement cycle.

What advanced features do your electrical smoke detectors include?

Our latest ‘smart’ detectors add: • AC-hard-wired power with battery backup so you stay protected during outages. • Wireless or hard-wired interconnection—when one sounds, they all sound. • Built-in carbon-monoxide and heat sensors for multi-threat detection. • Self-diagnostics that run every 60 seconds and report sensor health. • App connectivity (Wi-Fi or Z-Wave) for real-time mobile alerts, silencing via phone, and integration with smart lights or security panels. • Voice location technology that announces the room in alarm, aiding swift evacuation.

Do you provide professional installation and integration with my existing alarm or smart-home system?

Yes. Our NICET-certified installers handle everything—from site assessment and wiring to device programming. We can tie new detectors into legacy hard-wired circuits, addressable fire-alarm panels, or popular smart-home hubs such as Ring, Google Nest, Alarm.com and Hubitat. After installation we conduct a full-function test witnessed by you and supply a compliance certificate for your insurer or building inspector.

What maintenance services and warranty coverage do you offer?

All detectors come with a manufacturer’s 10-year limited warranty. In addition, we provide optional service contracts that cover: • Annual functional testing and NFPA 72 inspection reports • Battery replacement (or entire head replacement at year 10) • 24/7 priority dispatch if a device shows a fault code or false alarm • Firmware updates for smart detectors. These plans are billed yearly or can be bundled into our whole-home electrical safety package for Erwin residents and businesses.
