FAQs
What areas in and around Lancing do you cover?
Our engineers are based in central Lancing and routinely serve the whole BN15 postcode as well as neighbouring Sompting, Shoreham-by-Sea, Southwick, Worthing, Steyning and the surrounding South Downs villages. If you are unsure whether we can reach you, just call with your postcode – in most cases we can be on site the same day anywhere within a 10-mile radius of Lancing.
Are you available for emergency call-outs and how quickly can you arrive?
Yes. We operate a 24/7 emergency plumbing line. Outside normal office hours your call is routed directly to the on-duty engineer who can normally be at any Lancing address within 30–60 minutes. For nearby towns such as Worthing and Shoreham we aim for under 90 minutes, traffic permitting. All vans carry common spares so we can usually make the repair on the first visit.
Do you charge a call-out fee or offer free quotations?
There is no call-out fee for pre-booked appointments during standard working hours (08:00–17:00, Monday–Friday). Emergency attendance outside these hours carries a fixed £60 attendance charge, which is waived if you go ahead with the recommended repair. Written quotations for planned work—bathroom installations, boiler replacements, pipe reruns, etc.—are completely free and valid for 30 days.
Can you help with boiler servicing and certification?
Absolutely. All of our heating engineers are Gas Safe registered and qualified to service, repair and install natural-gas and LPG boilers. We perform annual servicing, landlord Gas Safety (CP12) certificates, system flushing and efficiency checks. Service history is logged digitally so you receive automated reminders when your next service is due.
What should I do if I have a burst pipe before you arrive?
1) Turn off your property’s stopcock—usually found under the kitchen sink or in the downstairs WC—by turning it clockwise. 2) Open all taps to drain residual water and relieve pressure. 3) Switch off central-heating and immersion heaters to protect the boiler. 4) If the leak is near electrics, turn off the mains power at the consumer unit. 5) Collect escaping water with buckets and towels to minimise damage. Then call us. When you describe the pipe material and location we can bring the correct fittings to speed up the repair.
Is the tap water in Lancing hard, and do I need a water softener?
Lancing sits on chalk downland, so mains water is classed as ‘hard’ (around 270–300 ppm). Hard water leaves limescale in kettles, boilers and pipework, reducing appliance life and energy efficiency. While not harmful to drink, many residents choose to fit a whole-house or under-sink water softener. We supply and install compact metered softeners that use 75 % less salt than older units and can fit neatly in a kitchen cupboard or loft. We are happy to test your hardness level free of charge and advise whether a softener would be cost-effective for your home.
