FAQs
What are the main benefits of upgrading to a modern, water-efficient toilet?
Contemporary high-efficiency toilets (HETs) use as little as 4.5 L per flush compared to older 13 L models, cutting water bills by up to 60 %. They also feature refined bowl and trapway designs that reduce clogs, quieter fill valves, and sleek profiles that refresh your bathroom’s look. Over time the water savings typically offset the cost of the new fixture while adding value to your home.
How do I know whether my existing toilet should be repaired or completely replaced?
Replacement is generally recommended when your current toilet shows repeated clogging, cracks in the tank or bowl, sweating that leads to floor damage, porcelain staining you cannot remove, or when repair parts (flappers, fill valves) have to be changed more than once a year. If you have a 13 L-per-flush toilet manufactured before 1994, the payback period from water savings alone makes replacement a smart financial decision.
What innovative toilet technologies are available through Guild Plumbing?
We install dual-flush systems, pressure-assisted flushing, rimless bowls for enhanced hygiene, concealed-tank wall-hung units that save floor space, integrated bidet seats with warm-water cleansing, touch-free flush actuators, and smart toilets that include automatic lid opening, night lighting, seat warming, and self-cleaning glazing. All options meet or exceed WaterSense® certification standards.
Will a new toilet fit my existing rough-in size and bathroom layout?
Most UK homes use a 305 mm (12-inch) rough-in from the wall to the centre of the waste outlet, but 250 mm and 355 mm rough-ins are also common. During our free site assessment we measure this distance, check floor clearance, and note shut-off valve placement. We then recommend models engineered for that rough-in or provide offset flanges if you want a style that requires a different distance. For small cloakrooms we can supply compact or corner toilets to maximise usable space.
How long does a typical toilet replacement take, and will there be much disruption?
A straightforward like-for-like swap normally takes 2–3 hours, including removal of the old fixture, minor floor prep, installation, leak testing, and tidy-up. Upgrades that involve relocating the drain or installing an in-wall tank may extend to a full day. We schedule work at a time convenient to you, protect adjacent flooring with drop sheets, and haul away the old unit for environmentally responsible disposal or recycling.
What warranties and after-sales support do you provide?
All toilets we supply carry manufacturer warranties ranging from 5 years on vitreous china to lifetime on certain premium models. Our labour is covered by a 2-year workmanship guarantee. Should you encounter any issues—running water, seal leaks, or electronic bidet malfunctions—our Guild service team is on call for priority troubleshooting and repairs. We also offer annual maintenance plans that include flush-valve inspection, water-hardness scale removal, and performance checks to keep your new toilet operating flawlessly.
