FAQs
What kinds of electrical problems can you repair in Bristol properties?
Our Bristol-based electricians are trained to diagnose and repair a wide range of domestic and light-commercial faults, including tripping RCDs, blown fuses, defective sockets or switches, persistent lighting failures, faulty extractor fans, damaged consumer units, and wiring faults caused by age or DIY alterations. We also tackle more specialised issues such as immersion-heater breakdowns, electric shower faults, under-floor heating problems, and surge-protection installations.
How fast can you attend an electrical emergency in the Bristol area?
For BS1–BS49 postcodes we offer a genuine 24/7 emergency call-out service. In most central Bristol neighbourhoods (Redland, Clifton, Bedminster, Stokes Croft, etc.) our average arrival time is 60–90 minutes, and for surrounding towns such as Filton, Keynsham or Portishead it is typically within two hours. Our vans are fully stocked with common breakers, fuses, cabling, and accessories so that we can complete the majority of repairs on the first visit.
Are your electricians properly qualified and insured?
Yes. Every engineer holds City & Guilds 2391/2394–95 testing & inspection certificates, is registered with the NICEIC as an Approved Contractor, and carries a current ECS card. We also maintain £5 million public liability insurance and £10 million employer’s liability cover. All work is carried out to the latest edition of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and Part P of the Building Regulations where applicable.
How much will it cost to identify and fix an electrical fault?
For non-emergency visits we charge a fixed £70+VAT diagnostic fee, which covers up to one hour on site and includes basic testing. If a straightforward repair can be completed in that hour—such as replacing a faulty socket or breaker—there is no additional labour charge; you only pay for any materials used. For larger repairs we provide a clear quotation before work begins, and our hourly labour rate after the first hour is £55+VAT. We never start chargeable work without your approval.
Will I need a full rewire or can you just repair the specific fault?
A full rewire is rarely the only option. Our first step is always to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem by carrying out insulation-resistance, continuity, and RCD time tests. In many cases we can isolate a single defective circuit or joint, replace damaged cabling locally, or upgrade the consumer unit to modern protection standards rather than rewiring the entire property. We will only recommend a full rewire if test results show that the wiring is unsafe throughout (e.g., perished VIR or rubber cabling) and local repairs would not achieve compliance.
Do you guarantee your electrical repair work?
Absolutely. All parts supplied by us carry the manufacturer’s warranty (typically 12 months), and we back our workmanship with a no-quibble 6-year NICEIC Platinum Promise. If any fault recurs due to our installation within that period, we will return to put it right at no extra cost. You will receive a digital Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (MEIWC) or Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for all notifiable work, which serves as documented proof of compliance and warranty.
